LASBCA PRIORITISES STAFF WELLNESS WITH COMPREHENSIVE MEDICAL SCREENING DRIVE
The Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the health and wellbeing of its workforce through the conduct of a comprehensive medical screening exercise for members of staff on Friday, 13th February 2026.
The health initiative, which featured blood pressure and fasting blood sugar screenings, forms part of a broader workplace wellness programme designed to ensure that officers of the Agency remain medically fit and mentally alert in the discharge of their statutory responsibilities.
LASBCA personnel are routinely engaged in rigorous field operations across Lagos State, including stage-by-stage building inspections, monitoring of construction activities, enforcement of compliance with the Lagos State Building Control Regulations, Identification of Distressed and Defective Structures, Issuance of Contravention Notices, Sealing of Non-Compliant Buildings, and Collaboration with other Government Agencies to safeguard lives and property. These demanding responsibilities require optimal physical and mental fitness, making regular health assessments both necessary and strategic.
Speaking further, the General Manager of LASBCA, Bldr. Gbaye Florence stressed that the medical screening exercise is not a one-off event but part of an ongoing staff welfare programme. She noted that safeguarding the health of its workforce directly strengthens its mandate to promote safe building practices, prevent structural failures, and ensure sustainable urban development throughout Lagos State
"LASBCA remains at the forefront of enforcing building control measures aimed at reducing incidents of building collapse, enhancing public safety, and maintaining environmental standards in line with the development objectives of the Lagos State Government through a healthy workforce that will translate into an improved service delivery and a more effective regulatory oversight", Gbaye added.
The General Manager also stated that the Agency has resolved to sustain periodic checkup and wellness programmes as part of the Agency’s corporate responsibility to its workforce as a healthy and motivated staff remains critical to the Agency’s mandate of strengthening regulatory compliance and upholding building control and safety standards across Lagos State.
However, members of staff who took part in the medical screening exercise expressed sincere appreciation to the management for placing a premium on their health and overall wellbeing. They described the initiative as a clear demonstration of the Lagos State Government’s commitment to staff welfare and commended the Agency for institutionalising proactive and preventive healthcare measures within the workplace.
