The day I returned home, people celebrated my arrival. They saw the uniform, the boots, and the smile on my face.
But they didn't see the memories hidden behind my eyes.
They didn't see the nights I spent awake listening to gunfire in the darkness.

Whenever danger surrounded me, I remembered my mother's voice. I remembered her prayers before I left home. I remembered her asking God to guide my steps, protect me from evil, and bring me back safely.

On the battlefield, every sunrise was a blessing because many of us were never sure we would see another one. There were days when bullets flew above our heads like angry storms. There were nights when explosions shook the ground beneath us. We marched for hours carrying heavy equipment under the burning sun. We slept in mud, endured cold nights, and faced dangers that words can never fully describe.

I watched brave men stand their ground even when fear tried to break them. I saw friends share their last bottle of water. I witnessed sacrifices that will stay in my heart forever. War is not what movies show. War is painful. War is exhausting. War changes people forever.
Through every difficult moment, one thing kept me going: my mother's prayers.
