EVANG.OKOROIKE COMMISSIONS MORE BOREHOLE PROJECTS , SAYS MORE THAN 30 UNDERWAY
The Executive Chairman of Isiala Mbano LGA, Hon.Evang. Chika Okoroike, has commissioned three additional solar-powered boreholes as part of his administration's rural water accessibility programme designed to provide free clean water across various communities within Isiala Mbano LGA, increasing the number of already commissioned Boreholes in the 1st phase of the programme to Ten Solar-powered Borehole.
The project commissioning which took place on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Umuezealma village in Amaraku Autonomous Community, Afọr ibeme in Ibeme Autonomous Community, and Ofodim Autonomous Community respectively; attracted the presence of prominent personalities from the respective communities including the traditional rulers, PGs, Village Chairmen,who came out in their numbers to welcome and appreciate the Council Chairman for the development he brought to their communities.
The Council Chairman, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony to formally commission the borehole for public use, reiterated his administration's commitment to prioritizing basic necessities as outlined in the needs assessment of all communities within the Local Government Area. He disclosed that over 30 borehole projects were currently underway, in addition to the 20 ongoing water projects in the first phase of the initiative. Furthermore, he extended his gratitude to the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency Dist. Sen.Hope Uzodimma, for empowering Local Government Areas by ensuring their autonomy, which has enabled them to address the needs of rural communities effectively.
While at Ofodim autonomous community, Evang. Okoroike expressed gratitude to Chief Bright Chimezie Njoku, Publisher and CEO of Horn Newspaper and a native son of the community, for prioritizing community development over personal interests. He noted that prior to the borehole construction, Chief Chimezie had alleviated the suffering of his people by providing them with complimentary water and emphasised that the project would bring enduring relief to the community.
Furthermore, he honored Chief Chimezie by allowing him to perform the ribbon-cutting ceremony as a recognition of his sacrifices for the Ofodim community, assuring that more good things would come to the community through him.
In conclusion, the chairman urged the communities to take responsibility for safeguarding the hybrid solar boreholes in their areas, highlighting that his preference for solar-powered boreholes stemmed from their ability to provide a consistent water supply without requiring human intervention.
The Council Chairman was accompanied by the Leader council, Rt. Hon. Godson Mgbeosuru, who performed the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Afor IBEME Borehole, Chief of Staff to the Council Chairman, Hon. Golden Uzowuru, Chief Protocol Officer, Buhari Uzowuru, the Borehole Engineer, Engr.Omauzo, and among others.
