We're officially calling for abstracts for our fourth Academic Tax Conference (ATC), taking place in Amsterdam on 13-14 May 2027!
Next year's theme, "Legal Certainty and Taxation", will allow to explore the multifaceted dimensions of the legal certainty principle, examining the theoretical and practical challenges of its application in connection with tax matters in an increasingly complex and dynamic framework.
If you have valuable insight to share on this topic, join peers and IBFD expertsfor two days of rich discussion and knowledge sharing. You have until now and 10 September 2026 to submit your abstract.

Applications for our ScholarMIT 2027 event are open!
The 'Scholar Meeting of International Tax Researchers' (ScholarMIT) is our annual event, where we invite 12 early-career tax scholars to our HQ in Amsterdam to discuss their current research.
During the two-day event, the 12 finalists will be offered expert coaching, a platform to discuss their research, and the opportunity to exchange ideas with peers from across the globe.
We encourage applicants who:
• Have obtained a PhD
• Are under the age of 50
• Spend at least 30% of their work time on research-related activities.
• Are developing an innovative research project on international, European, or comparative taxation.
• Are university professors or lecturers (though not essential).

You have until Monday, 15 June, to apply for the second IBFD Short-term Research Grant of 2026.
Our short term research grant is an initiative that provides successful applicants with 3,500 EUR to partly cover the expenses of a research stay of between 21 - 90 days at the IBFD headquarters in Amsterdam. The grants are awarded to qualified students of developing countries who do not have the necessary resources and wish to become proficient in the study of international and comparative taxation.
Through short-term research grants we have awarded so far, we've welcomed students from Cuba, Turkey, Malaysia, South Africa and Hong Kong. Successful applicants benefit from:
• A €3,500 grant to support a research stay at our HQ in Amsterdam
• Access to IBFD’s world-class Library and research environment
• Mentorship from leading tax experts
• The opportunity to publish your research in an IBFD periodical
