Awareness with Innovation... It was founded due to the necessity for environmental restoration and protection of the Himalayas.
About the Organization
South Asia Himalayan Environment Research & Conservation Centre is an organization based in Kathmandu, Nepal. We organize awareness campaigns and events to utilize the resources of the community to provide long-term environmental benefits for natural areas. As an organization, we believe in empowering local communities to benefit from litter cleanups, native tree plantings,
nonnative plant removal, and community recycling programs. Saving the Himalayas is not just a mission, it is a priority. Our actions are tied to understanding our ecology better, the spiritual and physical gratitude of nature and the revered value of every living thing on this planet. One of the most important factors that circles around South Asia Himalayan Environment Research & Conservation Centre is the negative impact of mountain tourism on the fragile ecology of the Himalayas. We have been involved in creating mass consciousness and deepening of national and international public debate on issues related to pollution. We have also been using education as a resource to mobilize the local communities in sustained high-pitched campaigns, focused action such as cleaning trekking trails across the Nepal Himalayas. Although the extent of environment degradation is still an issue that needs to be monitored and initiated in greater speed, we have received unimaginable support from local communities who understand specific facts. In the long run SAHERCC aims to consolidate and build on the gains with a long-term perspective on the larger issue of environmental management in the Himalayan Region.
