Kaiser Library was given to the public in 1965 by the family of its creator Field marshal Kaiser Shumsher Rana, the illustrious of son of Prime Minister Chandra Shumsher Rana. The palace of Kaiser Mahal, built in the late 19th century, is a unique public building in the centre of Kathmandu.
