Regular monthly meeting of YL:SCALE UP Program of the Department of Agriculture RFO 8.

The meeting discussed the updates from local farmer leaders from different barangays, issues that they have encountered or concerns from their farmer cooperators.

Ms. Lovely from DA-RFO8 informed the Lead Farmers on the updates of their incentives for the SCALE UP Program. Ms. Daryll from LGU Abuyog also gave a heads-up on the upcoming activities on the Linggo ng Abuyog. Meanwhile, Mr. Joevile gave his updates on the corn programs and distributions of corn seeds to local corn farmers.

This meeting was meaningful because a lot of their issues and concerns were addressed and DA-RFO8 through Ms. Lovely and Roland will assist the different FCAs to avail the programs from the Department of Agriculture.

May 21, 2026 at Bonife-Binueza Farm

The Bureau of Agricultural Research (BAR) Central Office visited the Municipality of Abuyog to conduct interviews and video documentation highlighting the success of the YL:SCALE UP Program in the municipality. Farmers from various barangays gathered to show their support, together with Agricultural Technologists from MAO Abuyog and Research Specialists from DA-Abuyog Experiment Station (AES).

During the activity, Farmer Leaders conducted demonstrations and shared knowledge on Corn Production, Palay Check, Soil Health Card, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM). The BAR Central Office also interviewed four Farmer Leaders: Erwin Pahimnayan, Rowena Cartajena, Delia Felizmeña, and Ma. Flor Austria.

In addition, Research Specialist Mona Liza Ruiz from DA-AES, along with Agricultural Technologists Daryll Mae Ruales and Joevile Austria, were interviewed to discuss the implementation and impact of the program in the municipality.

Drip irrigation is not failing on your farm because of the drip lines…
It’s failing because of tank height, zoning, and pipe size.
If your tank is low, pressure is low. If you open the whole farm at once, pressure drops. If your main pipe is small, water loses strength before reaching the crops.
Raise the tank (at least 5m). Start with a big main pipe (not less than 2"). Divide the farm into zones and irrigate one zone at a time. Keep drip laterals short and well fed from a proper submain.
Get these three right, and drip will be uniform from the first plant to the last.
