: DOLE Brings New Hope to 26 Parents of Child Laborers in Cabuyao City
In line with the vision of DOLE Secretary Francis N. TOLentino to promote inclusive growth and provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for Filipino workers, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) continued to implement programs that helped vulnerable families improve their sources of income. Through the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP), beneficiaries were provided with the necessary tools and support to establish productive livelihoods, enabling them to become more self-reliant, strengthen their economic stability, and build a better future for their families.
On June 11, 2026, the DOLE Laguna Provincial Office, in partnership with Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Cabuyao and the City Government of Cabuyao, distributed livelihood assistance amounting to Php 937,800.00 to 26 parents of child laborers in Cabuyao City.
The livelihood assistance was designed to help beneficiaries establish sustainable sources of income and improve their familiesโ quality of life. During the awarding activity, 10 beneficiaries received motorized fishing boats at the Marinig Fishing Port in Brgy. Marinig, Cabuyao City, while 16 beneficiaries were provided with livelihood packages for Sewing Services and Garments Production at the Cabuyao City Hall.
More than the livelihood packages themselves, the assistance represents renewed hope for families striving to provide better opportunities for their children. By strengthening household income, the program supports parents in meeting their familiesโ needs while helping ensure that children remain in school and away from child labor.
Among those who benefited from the program was Francisco Abella, who shared his heartfelt appreciation for the assistance received.
The activity was facilitated by Ms. Lorena Gacosta, DILP Focal Person, and Ms. Rhea Cacao, Livelihood Development Specialist of the DOLE Laguna Provincial Office, who guided the beneficiaries throughout the awarding and orientation process.
Through continuous livelihood assistance programs, DOLE remains committed to helping families achieve stability and move toward a more secure and dignified way of living.
