Actively executing Labor Secretary Francis N. Tolentino’s national directive to strengthen labor inspections and strictly enforce Occupational Safety and Health Standards (OSHS) within the construction industry, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao del Norte Field Office spearheaded a comprehensive, joint enforcement operation across major development zones in the city today.

The strategic, multi-agency initiative simultaneously covered high-visibility infrastructure projects: a massive commercial development at an ongoing mall construction site and a critical public infrastructure expansion at a local public hospital.

The inter-agency composite team—steered by DOLE labor inspectors alongside representatives from the Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth), Pag-IBIG Fund, and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), —conducted a holistic evaluation of the operations. Moving beyond traditional standalone checks, this synchronized effort assessed three major contractors handling the sites to ensure compliance with safety protocols, structural standards, and general labor standards.

Romeo was among the beneficiaries of DOLE's TUPAD Tuloy Pasada. He is a longtime PUJ driver servicing the SM Ecoland route in Davao City. Through the program, he was given the opportunity not only to receive temporary cash-for-work assistance, but also to provide Libreng Sakay services for job seekers and commuters during the Labor Day Job Fair activities.

Knowing that thousands of applicants would gather at the venue hoping to secure employment, Romeo willingly dedicated his day to transporting passengers free of charge.

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) XI – Davao del Sur Field Office, through its Livelihood Team, successfully conducted the Turnover of Materials under the DOLE-Assisted Livelihood Project titled “Marketing of Quality and Affordable Rice” on June 10, 2026, in Guihing, Hagonoy, Davao del Sur. The project, amounting to Php 500,000.00, was awarded to the DASUCECO Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (DEMUCO) to support its livelihood enterprise and enhance access to quality and affordable rice for the community.

The turnover of project materials signifies DOLE’s continuing commitment to empowering workers’ organizations and cooperatives through sustainable livelihood opportunities. By providing the necessary resources and support, the initiative aims to strengthen DEMUCO’s operational capacity, generate additional income opportunities for its members, and contribute to local economic development in the municipality of Hagonoy.

In line with the directive of Secretary Francis N. Tolentino’s agenda of promoting inclusive growth, employment generation, and sustainable community-based enterprises, DOLE XI remains steadfast in delivering responsive livelihood interventions that improve the socio-economic well-being of Filipino workers and their families. Through strong partnerships with community organizations such as DEMUCO, DOLE continues to create pathways toward resilient and self-sustaining livelihoods.

Nagkahiusa pag-usab ang mga multi-sectoral stakeholders gikan sa Rehiyon XI ug Davao de Oro sa ilang pasalig sa pagpalambo sa produktibidad ug malungtarong kalamboan atol sa 2nd Quarterly Meeting sa Mindanao Productivity Project nga gipasiugdahan sa Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Davao de Oro Field Office niadtong Hunyo 16, 2026 sa DOLE Davao de Oro Conference Hall.

Gitambongan ang kalihokan sa mga representante gikan sa mga ahensya sa gobyerno, lokal nga pangagamhanan, institusyong pang-edukasyon, ug mga organisasyon sa komunidad lakip ang Sta. Ana Farmers Operators Association (SAFOA), Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) sa Davao de Oro, mga Municipal Local Government Units (MLGUs), ug Colegio de Nabunturan (CDN). Miapil usab ang mga regional partner agencies sama sa Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), ug Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) aron mapalig-on ang panagtinabangay alang sa kalampusan sa proyekto.

Sa iyang mensahe, gipasi-ugda ni Provincial Director Neil Allan Baban ang kamahinungdanon sa panaghiusa ug kooperasyon aron makab-ot ang mga tumong sa proyekto. Gisundan kini sa pagrepaso sa mga pasalig sa matag stakeholder nga gipangunahan ni Eric T. Valiente, Labor and Employment Officer III ug DILEEP Focal Person, diin gipaambit ang mga nahimo, mga hagit nga nasugatan, ug mga lakang aron mapalambo pa ang implementasyon sa proyekto. Gitapos ang kalihokan pinaagi sa Signing of the Pledge of Commitment, nga nagsimbolo sa lig-on ug padayon nga dedikasyon sa tanang kaabag sa pagsuporta sa dugayng kalampusan sa Mindanao Productivity Project.

Usa sa mga mahinungdanong bahin sa miting mao ang pagrepaso sa mga pasalig sa matag stakeholder, nga gipangunahan ni Eric T. Valiente, Labor and Employment Officer III ug DILEEP Focal Person. Ngayong araw, isinagawa ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), in partnership with PESO Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte, ang Project Proposal presentation para sa 25 na magulang ng mga batang manggagawa, na may layuning mabigyan sila ng ₱20,000 na livelihood assistance bawat isa.

Bahagi ito ng patuloy na kampanya laban sa child labor, na naglalayong palakasin ang kabuhayan ng mga pamilya upang maiwasan ang pagpasok ng mga bata sa mapanganib na trabaho.

Bilang suporta sa ganitong mga hakbang, binigyang-diin ni DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino na ang tuluyang pagwawakas sa child labor ay nangangailangan ng whole-of-society approach—kabilang ang mas mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng batas, dekalidad na edukasyon, at patuloy na livelihood support para sa mga pamilyang vulnerable upang maiahon sila sa kahirapan.

“Coming from a less fortunate family, it was really hard to pursue higher education. But because of this program, thankfully, I finished my studies and became part of the Top 5 in the Licensure Examination for Teachers 2026."

John Lloyd, a graduate of the University of Mindanao Peñaplata College, emerged as one of the country’s top performers in the March 2026 Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET), securing the Top 5 spot among thousands of examinees nationwide.

Behind this remarkable achievement is a story of resilience and opportunity. Long before his name appeared on the list of topnotchers, Tingal was already working toward his dreams through the Department of Labor and Employment’s Government Internship Program (GIP).

Guided by the directive of DOLE Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, DOLE remains committed to empowering the youth through the GIP and other employability programs that open doors to learning, skills development, meaningful work experience, and brighter career opportunities.

DAVAO CITY – On June 1, 2026, the open-air setting of People’s Park was filled with a palpable sense of excitement as one hundred (100) Tricycle Operators and Drivers Association (TODA) members from various barangays across Davao City gathered to sign their employment contracts, officially stepping into a new chapter of community service and financial security.

For these 100 transport workers, the contract signing marks the beginning of 15 days of guaranteed work, earning the daily minimum wage of ₱525 per day. Instead of worrying about unpredictable daily earnings on the road, they are being deployed back into their respective barangays to undertake vital community works such as cleaning drainage systems, clearing public pathways, and revitalizing local public spaces.

The initiative offers the drivers a unique chance to directly uplift their own neighborhoods while securing a steady, reliable income for their households.
