Udtongan Elementary School Serves as Evacuation Center After April 19 Encounter

UDTONGAN, Escalante City — Udtongan Elementary School was designated as an evacuation center following the armed encounter between the New People’s Army (NPA) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on April 19, providing temporary shelter to affected residents.

Local authorities, in coordination with the City Government of Escalante, facilitated the safe and orderly evacuation of families to the school. The site continues to serve as a refuge for displaced individuals.

Relief operations were immediately conducted, with food packs and essential supplies distributed to evacuees. Assistance was extended by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) of Udtongan, the Department of Education–Escalante, the Local Government Unit of Escalante, the Province of Negros Occidental, the Office of the Vice President, and private individuals.

The response was led by the Barangay Council under Brgy. Captain Reymar Rivera SK Chairman Diosario Subiate together with School Head Junno V. Son, LGU officials, and the administration of Mayor Melecio Beboy Yap Jr. ensuring proper management of the evacuation center and continuous support for affected families.

The school and community extend their sincere gratitude to all individuals and organizations who have shown love, generosity, and support to the people of Udtongan during this difficult time.

Amid the crisis, the community continues to stand united, upholding peace, cooperation, and resilience.

DAGHANG SALAMAT SA INYUNG TABANG!

A heartfelt appreciation to Marayo Bank Inc. Cadiz Branch Lite Unit for your generosity and dedication in recognizing the achievements of our learners at Udtongan Elementary School. 🏅📚

Despite the distance—from Cadiz City all the way to Barangay Udtongan, Escalante City—you went the extra mile to ensure that the medals for our athletes and academic awardees were delivered right to our doorstep. This door-to-door effort truly means so much to us, especially as a school located far from the city.

Your support is more than just giving medals—it is a powerful encouragement to our students to continue striving for excellence in both academics and sports. You have made them feel valued, motivated, and proud of their accomplishments.

Thank you, Marayo Bank, for your kindness, commitment, and for being a true partner in celebrating the success of our learners. Your generosity will always be remembered by the entire Udtongan ES community. 💙

IN PHOTOS | [PART 4] Class of 2026 Marks New Beginnings at Graduation Rites

With smiles, applause, and a few heartfelt tears, the Graduation Rites of the Class of 2026 unfolded as a celebration of achievement, resilience, and hope for the future.

Held yesterday, the ceremony brought together graduates, families, and faculty in a shared moment of pride. One by one, students crossed the stage, each step symbolizing years of hard work, challenges overcome, and dreams steadily pursued.

A highlight of the event was the message delivered by guest speaker Ms. Anra Jean R. Niuda, whose words resonated deeply with the graduates. She encouraged them to move forward with courage and purpose, reminding them that success is shaped not only by ambition but also by perseverance and integrity.

Beyond the formal rites, the occasion was filled with meaningful moments—laughter among friends, grateful embraces with loved ones, and quiet reflections on journeys now complete. For many, it was not just an ending, but the beginning of something greater.

As the Class of 2026 steps into a new chapter, they carry with them the lessons learned, the friendships formed, and the values that will guide them in the years ahead. The future now awaits, wide open and full of possibility.
