ESCALANTE CITY, Negros Occidental โ The Department of Social Welfare and Development Negros Island Region (DSWD NIR), through the PAMANA Peace and Development Program (PDP), formally turned over 14 community road improvement subprojects worth โฑ17,054,374.80 to the City of Escalante during a ceremonial mass turnover, reinforcing the governmentโs commitment to peacebuilding and inclusive development in conflict-vulnerable areas.
The subprojects were implemented in 14 barangays identified as conflict-vulnerable areas: Alimango, Binaguiohan, Buenavista, Dian-ay, Japitan, Langub, Libertad, Mabini, Malasibog, Paitan, Pinapugasan, Rizal, Udtongan, and Washington. All subprojects focused on the improvement of community roads to enhance access to basic services, improve mobility, and support local economic activities.
A total of 2,845 households are expected to directly benefit from the completed road projects, which aim to strengthen community resilience, promote social cohesion, and address development gaps in geographically isolated and conflict-affected communities.
The ceremonial turnover was led by DSWD Undersecretary for the PAMANA Peace and Development Group Alan Tanjusay, alongside DSWD NIR Regional Director Arwin O. Razo. Also present were PAMANA PDP PDO III Dan Donald Candare and officials of the Escalante City local government unit headed by Mayor Melecio J. Yap Jr. and Vice Mayor Rogelio A. Prietos.
The activity forms part of DSWD NIRโs continuing implementation of the PAMANA Peace and Development Program, reflecting the agencyโs dedication to reaching communities in identified conflict-vulnerable areas and working closely with local government units to respond to their development needs.

Joint Moving Up Ceremony was celebrated today, March 31,2025. The achievements of daycare students recognized as they take important steps toward their future.
