From June 9–11, 2026, Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center (DJSMMC) conducted a Writeshop on the HIV Testing Protocol to strengthen and standardize the delivery of HIV testing services within the institution.

The three-day activity brought together key personnel and stakeholders to review existing practices, align protocols with current national guidelines, and develop a comprehensive framework that ensures quality, accessible, confidential, and client-centered HIV testing services.

Through collaborative discussions and technical inputs, the writeshop reaffirmed DJSMMC’s commitment to enhancing HIV prevention, early detection, and linkage to care, contributing to improved health outcomes for the communities we serve.

Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center successfully conducted its 2nd Quarter Research Capacity Building Program (June 09-10, 2026) focusing on Policy Review, Feedbacking, and Policy Crafting, reaffirming its commitment to strengthening research governance and fostering a culture of evidence-based decision-making.

The activity provided a platform for participants to critically assess existing research policies, incorporate valuable stakeholder feedback, and collaboratively develop policy frameworks that are responsive, relevant, and aligned with current research standards and institutional goals.

The program was enriched by the expertise and guidance of esteemed resource speakers from Iloilo State University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), Dr. Ramir Torreces and Dr. Rex Paulino, whose insights on policy development and research management inspired meaningful discussions and productive outputs.

Strengthening community awareness, one household at a time!

The Dengue Awareness Campaign was successfully conducted in Brgy. Monpon, Barotac Nuevo, last April 09, 2026, with the participation of 100 community members. This initiative was made possible through the collaboration of the Public Health Unit (PHU) and the Department of Family and Community Medicine.

The activity aimed to educate residents on dengue prevention, early recognition of symptoms, and the importance of maintaining a clean and mosquito-free environment. Through collective action and community engagement, we can reduce the risk of dengue and promote a healthier and safer community for all.

The Incident Command System (ICS) Executive Course, conducted by the Office of Civil Defense and facilitated by the Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center – Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit (HEDMU), was successfully held on June 2, 2026, at the Ina Farmers Learning Site, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

The activity brought together DJSMMC leaders to enhance their understanding of disaster preparedness, emergency response coordination, and crisis leadership. Through the course, participants gained valuable insights into the principles and application of the Incident Command System, reinforcing a unified and effective approach to emergency management.

DJSMMC-HEDMU remains committed to strengthening disaster resilience and fostering a culture of preparedness for safer and more responsive communities.

Don Jose S. Monfort Medical Center participates in the 2026 Policy Brief Training conducted by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region VI on June 03, 2026 at DOST Training Room, Iloilo City, Philippines.

Representing DJSMMC is its Research Focal Person, Mr. EJ Abelieto, who joins fellow research representatives from various healthcare institutions and academic organizations across Western Visayas.

The training aims to strengthen participants' capacity to develop evidence-based policy briefs that can inform decision-making and contribute to the advancement of health and research initiatives in the region.
