Jaro, the largest district of Iloilo City, was once an independent pueblo before its 1940s incorporation. Originally called Salog, it’s now known as the “Mestizo Town” or “City Within a City,” home to about 136,274 residents and a rich heritage.
City Proper District, Iloilo City’s historical and commercial heart, serves as a bustling hub of government offices, heritage sites, retail centers, and transport links, connecting districts while preserving the city’s rich urban and cultural legacy.

Lapuz, Iloilo City’s smallest district (3.25 km², 31,603 residents in 2024), named from Hiligaynon “lapus” (to pass through) for its strategic location, was established in 2008 and serves as a vital industrial and port hub connecting the city to Guimaras.

Molo, Iloilo City’s second-most populous district, spans 25 barangays and 5–6 km². Once a separate town and Spanish-era “parián” for Chinese residents, it became known as the “Athens of the Philippines” for its many intellectuals and leaders.
