RDEO UPDATE | June 17, 2026
The Research, Development, and Extension Office (RDEO) of Kapalong College of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology (KCAST), in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kapalong, conducted a book donation drive and site inspection for the proposed Learning Center Project at Kapatagan Integrated School, Barangay Gupitan, Kapalong, Davao del Norte.
The activity was undertaken in coordination with Maโam Maria Theresa R. Timbol and other LGU personnel, bringing together stakeholders committed to advancing accessible and inclusive learning opportunities for learners in the community. The initiative aims to establish a dedicated learning center that will serve as a hub for reading, learning, and academic enrichment, particularly for children in underserved areas.
The project is envisioned to be supported through collaborative efforts among stakeholders, development foundations, LGU Kapalong, and KCAST, reflecting a shared commitment to empowering communities through education and creating meaningful opportunities for lifelong learning.

Kapalong College of Agriculture, Sciences and Technology (KCAST), and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Kapalong, welcomed representatives from the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region XI for a coordination meeting and site revalidation activity last June 16, 2026 under the Smarter Approaches to Reinvigorate Agriculture as an Industry in the Philippines through the Centralized National Hub for Regional Operations (SARAI/CENTRO) Program.
The activity aimed to assess and validate the proposed site for the installation of an Automated Weather Station (AWS) in the municipality, ensuring compliance with technical and locational requirements that will support precision agriculture, climate monitoring, and disaster preparedness initiatives for local farmers.
The delegation was received by Hon. Edgardo L. Timbol, Municipal Mayor of Kapalong, together with Engr. Rey Jhon L. Chavez, OIC-MENRO, and Mr. Ohwen S. Duran, Municipal Agriculturist. Representing KCAST were Mr. Ronel Geraldizo Dagohoy, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Mr. Ruel B. Toredez, BSA Department Head; and Mr. Rowel A. Peรฑora, CELNO Director. The DOST team was composed of Ms. Lesselle I. Abatol, Project Focal for Davao del Norte; Engr. Drelyn Perez, Project Technical Specialist; Mr. Jayson Victor Suello, Project Technical Assistant; Mr. Earl Angelo Tahod, Project Technical Assistant; and Ms. Andrea Villegas, Admin and Finance Personnel.
Through this collaborative effort, KCAST, LGU Kapalong, and DOST reaffirm their commitment to leveraging science, technology, and innovation in advancing sustainable agricultural development and strengthening the resilience of farming communities in the municipality.

RDEO Update | May 12, 2026
KCAST, in partnership with the Marsman Drysdale Foundation, Inc. (MDFI), conducted a site inspection at Sitio Biokong, Sampao, Kapalong, Davao del Norte, together with Sir Joel B. Quiรฑo, Program Officer of MDFI, for the proposed establishment of community greenhouses under the livelihood development program of the foundation.
The activity aimed to assess the suitability of the area and identify strategic interventions that will support sustainable agricultural production, food security, and community-based livelihood opportunities for local residents. The continuing partnership between KCAST and MDFI reflects a shared commitment to empowering communities through sustainable development initiatives, agricultural innovation, and inclusive extension programs.
