Grounded in the belief that mental health is a fundamental right for all, the National Center for Mental Health Public Health Office (NCMH -PHO), in collaboration with the Barangay Nangka local government, successfully concluded the second day of โProject CARE: Creating Awareness, Resilience, and Emotional Wellnessโ on June 12, 2026.
Following the impactful launch of the initiative last May 29, Day 2 shifted its focus toward equipping frontline community leaders and local government workers. Held at the 3rd Floor of the Barangay Nangka Hall, the seminar-workshop targeted Barangay Employees and Officialsโthe vital first responders of the community.
By educating Barangay Officials, Barangay Tanods and Admin Staff, the initiative ensures that grassroots governance is not only efficient but deeply compassionate. When community leaders are mentally resilient, they are better equipped to build stronger, healthier, and safer neighborhoods.
The NCMH extends its deepest gratitude to the leadership and officials of Barangay Nangka, Marikina City, for their unwavering commitment to integrating mental health advocacy into local governance.
Together, we prove that mental health matters, safe spaces empower, and true healing begins when a community stands united.

During the month of June, we celebrate the National Safe Kids Week. Its primary objective is to promote and practice safe, immediate, and effective responses to childhood accidents, ensuring that homes, schools, and communities remain hazard-free zones for children. Childhood injuries and accidents are highly preventable, yet they remain a leading cause of trauma and disability among minors. At the same time, there is an increasing number of children experiencing abuses and trauma.
The objectives of the celebration are the following:
Raise widespread awareness about common childhood accidents and preventive measures.
Train caregivers and service providers in proper, safe first-response protocols.
Foster a proactive culture of safety that prioritizes child protection across all sectors.
We can help our kids to have a safe environment by removing potential hazards in usual kid environment like homes, schools and playgrounds. Attend to their basic needs not only material things but also physical and emotional support. Finally, giving families and children verified safety materials and infographics.
The Child and Adolescent Section provides comprehensive mental health and psychosocial support, pediatric psychiatric evaluations and health education. Additionally, the child protection unit also caters to children and adolescent service users who have experienced different forms abuse. Together with the Pediatrics Department, Psychological Section, Occupational Therapy and other health allied services of our center, our goal is a holistic evaluation and management of our service users.
Our children rely on us to create a world where they can explore, learn, and grow without fear of preventable harm. Ensuring their safety is not just a seasonal campaignโit is a daily, collective responsibility. Together, let us build a protective shield around our youth, because their future depends on the safe environments we build for them today.
Thank you and have a pleasant day to everyone!
