The Department of Tourism (DOT) joins the nation in celebrating the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence.

Today, we honor the courage, patriotism, and sacrifice of our beloved forebears who fought to secure our nation’s dignity and freedom, which gave birth to our very nation 128 years ago. Their very actions continue to inspire all of us to build a stronger, more inclusive, more unified, and globally competitive tourism industry. One that opens doors of opportunity for every Filipino, and one that allows communities across the archipelago to share in the promise of progress.

Likewise, we pay tribute to our heroes of today. The tourism workers, hospitality professionals, transport operators, tour guides, local artisans, entrepreneurs, and community stakeholders whose dedication showcases the very best of the indomitable Filipino spirit to the world.

On behalf of our grateful nation, the DOT proudly continues to share the story of the Filipino, one that embodies our resilience, creativity, warmth, and deep love for our homeland. The DOT MIMAROPA proudly welcomes the historic designation of Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve!

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) has officially designated the “Matibay na Bayan ng Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro” as the country's newest Biosphere Reserve! 🏝️✨

With this prestigious addition, the MIMAROPA Region solidifies its status as the proud home to the absolute majority of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves in the Philippines! 🌊🐢

Out of the country's five designated sites, three spectacular reserves are found in the region:

• Puerto Galera Biosphere Reserve (Designated 1977)
• Palawan Biosphere Reserve (Designated 1990)
• Matibay na Bayan ng Sablayan Biosphere Reserve (Designated 2026)

This international recognition is a testament to the community's resilience, sustainable development, and tireless conservation efforts. Let us protect, preserve, and continue to love our natural heritage! 💚

The Department of Tourism MIMAROPA joins the week-long celebration of Adoption and Alternative Child Care Week (AACCW) with the advocacy theme, “Love Makes a Family” and the many stories that bring it to life.

This week also serves as an invitation to learn more about legal adoption and foster care.
