Statement of Support for the
EJK Truth Commission
After nearly a decade since the commencement of the Duterte administration’s brutal war on drugs, justice remains elusive for many of its victims — particularly the poor and the vulnerable — and their families. Compounding this injustice, the accounts of those who endured this campaign have often been discredited or doubted in the face of political idolatry. While the drug menace is undeniably a scourge that “must be curtailed with resoluteness and determination,” jurisprudence is equally clear that “a battle waged against illegal drugs that tramples on the rights of the people is not a war on drugs. It is a war against the people.” (People v. Narvas, G.R. No. 241254, July 8, 2019).
Every community of legal professionals bears the avowed duty to ensure that systemic violations of human rights are never repeated. In this light, the Adamson University College of Law welcomes the formation of the independent EJK Truth Commission and expresses its support for its initiative to establish a definitive and credible record of extrajudicial killings and related human rights violations in the country. As a Vincentian institution of legal learning, we affirm that truth must be heard, safeguarded, and retold, so that similar atrocities are never again committed, especially when committed under the guise of protecting national security. With confidence in the solidarity of our people and trust in the rule of law, we hope these efforts may contribute to a future where “justice will flow like a river and righteousness like an overflowing stream.” (Amos 5:24)
In doing so, we likewise commit ourselves to greater vigilance in upholding truth, justice, and the rule of law in the communities we serve and in the legal profession to which we have dedicated ourselves, in faithful pursuit of our Vincentian mission to serve and stand with the poor and the marginalized.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | The Legislative Council of Leaders (LCL) held its final session on May 25, 2026, at the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) Hall.
This face-face-face session aimed to conduct the second reading of the resolutions submitted by representatives of the AUSG from various Recognized Student Organizations (RSOs). A total of six (6) resolutions proceeded to the second reading for this semester.
The resolutions were authored by representatives from the following RSOs: Tinik Ng Teatro - Adamson University, Adamson University - Guild of Animation Makers and Esports, Adamson University - PULITIKA, Philippine Institute of Industrial Engineers - Operations Research Society of the Philippines - Adamson University Chapter, Adamson University Student Nurses’ Association, and Adamson University - Red Cross Youth Council.
The submitted resolutions aim to improve the facilities of Adamson University, strengthen the benefits that students should receive from the administration, and address health-related concerns around the campus.
Representatives exchanged ideas and suggested changes to their respective resolutions through debates and interpellations, during which the amendments were voted upon before being officially passed to the house officials of the said congress.
The seven-hour session concluded with a valedictory speech from the house officials and AUSG officers of Academic Year 2025 - 2026. Ms. Carmela Faye Valencia, the Vice President for External Affairs and Acting Deputy House Speaker of the Legislative Council, expressed her gratitude to the 16th LCL as they end the term.
Meanwhile, Mr. Paul Angelo Fabia, President of AUSG, highlights how important congress can be. “This Congress has never merely been a student organization. It has been a training ground for service, democratic participation, accountability, and principled leadership,” Fabia stated.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | On May 2026, the Adamson University Student Government (AUSG) kept the engine alive through 𝐀𝐋𝐖𝐀𝐍 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔: 𝐁𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐠-𝐚𝐬𝐚 𝐬𝐚 𝐏𝐮𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐠𝐤𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐚!
The jeepney drivers from Pandacan Transport Service Multi-Purpose Cooperative warmly welcomed the AUSG. The event commenced with the welcoming remarks of Mr. Marianito Palma, Board Director, who expressed his gratitude to the student government for its initiative.
“Nais ko po magpasalamat sa Adamson [University] dahil isa tayo sa pinili nila para mabigyan ng kasiyahan [at] mabigyan ng gift,” he stated.
Throughout the program, the student government prepared fun games and activities related to the beneficiaries’ line of work, such as the “Guess the Price” gasoline edition and the fastest coin-counting challenge.
Atty. Jan Nelin Navallasca, adviser of Adamson University Student Government, expressed his solidarity with the jeepney drivers during his inspirational talk. He mentioned how wars in other countries contribute to the increasing fuel prices in the Philippines.
He also highlighted how corruption affects efforts to help jeepney drivers during times of calamity and hinders the country’s progress by connecting it to the 3 C’s—Competence, Character, and Charity—which are among the teachings of St. Vincent de Paul, the patron saint of Adamson University.
“Alam naman natin sa ating gobyerno, sa ating panahon ngayon, marami tayong mga leader na magagaling. Kaya lang, parang [ang] problema ‘yung character. May mga issue tayo about corruption,” Atty. Navallasca asserted.
The student government also distributed in-kind donations as part of the program.
The program concluded with the closing remarks of AUSG President Mr. Paul Angelo Fabia, who thanked the franchise for welcoming the Adamson community and the jeepney drivers for their active participation, which contributed to the success of the event.
“Literal na kayo po ‘yung isa sa tumutulong sa mga kababayan natin. Kasi hindi naman po lahat [ay] afford ‘yung transportation na kagaya ng mga kotse, kagaya ng mga mamahalin na transportation system. So, mula sa inyo, natutulungan niyo po ‘yung mga kababayan natin,” Fabia said.
This event hopes to serve as a reminder that jeepney drivers are not alone in the struggle they face. There are people willing to listen, support, and stand with them throughout the journey.
Because in every trip they make, they do not only transport passengers—they also carry hope for their families and communities.
