As we continue to advocate for the rights and welfare of students across institutions, the National Union of Students of the Philippines โ Davao Chapter (NUSP-Davao) is launching a survey on the Perceptions of the General Education (GE) Curriculum and the Proposed 2026 Reduction.
General Education courses are a fundamental component of higher education, fostering critical thinking, social awareness, effective communication, and a holistic understanding of society. These courses play a key role in shaping not only professionals, but socially responsible citizens.
With the proposed reduction of GE units in 2026, it becomes essential to understand the perspectives of those directly affected. What do students and faculty think about the current GE curriculum? What are the possible implications of reducing GE units?
This survey aims to gather insights from students and faculty across public and private institutions to assess the value of GE and examine the potential impact of the proposed reform.
We assert that students and educators have the right to be heard in decisions that shape the direction of education. Policies must be informed by the lived experiences and perspectives of the academic community.
