๐๐ธโ ๐๐ธโโ๐ผ๐๐โ๐, โค๐ธ๐๐น๐ธ๐๐ผ๐ - ๐0 ๐๐ฆ๐๐, ๐๐๐๐ - In observance of the World Day Against Child Labor, the Department of Labor and Employment Zambales Field Office, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of San Marcelino through its Public Employment Service Office (PESO), successfully conducted a convergence of government services in Laoag, San Marcelino, Zambales. Anchored on the theme, โIkaw, Ako, Tayo: Sama-samang Pagkilos para sa Batang Malaya,โ the activity reaffirmed the collective commitment of government agencies and partner institutions to eliminate child labor and promote the welfare of children through sustainable family and community interventions.
A major highlight of the event was the awarding of livelihood starter kits to parents of profiled child laborers. The assistance packages were tailored to the beneficiariesโ proposed enterprises, including frozen food vending, sari-sari store operations, and bakery businesses, with the goal of strengthening household income and reducing the economic vulnerabilities that contribute to child labor. School bags and educational supplies were likewise distributed to identified children through Project Angel Tree, supporting their continued education and development.
The initiative was further strengthened through the participation of various partner agencies and institutions. The Provincial Government of Zambales provided rice assistance to beneficiary families, the Department of Agriculture distributed plant seeds, and the President Ramon Magsaysay State University conducted hygiene kit distribution and an information session highlighting the role of parents in preventing child labor. Representatives from the DILG, DSWD, and PNP San Marcelino also delivered messages emphasizing the importance of protecting children's rights through collaborative action, while the Philippine Statistics Authority brought its services closer to the community through civil registration assistance and information dissemination.
To ensure transparency and strict compliance in the implementation of the program, representatives from the DOLE Regional Office III โ Internal Management Services Division monitored the distribution process and validated the direct and complete delivery of assistance to the intended beneficiaries. Through this collaborative effort, DOLE Zambales and its partner agencies continue to advance programs that empower families, safeguard children's rights, and work toward building communities free from child labor.
