12 plants are on outage since May, 2 since April, 3 plants since March, 4 since January, 3 since 2025, 2 since 2024, and 1 plant out since 2019; while 14 plants are running on derated capacities, for a total of 4,242.5MW unavailable to the grid.

The Tayabas-Ilijan 500kV Line and the Dasmarinas-Ilijan 500kV Line were restored on 13 May 2026 at 2:44PM and 4:52PM, respectively. We are waiting for the affected plants to resynchronize back to the grid.

A red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.

A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.

OLONGAPO CITY — Barangay Pag-asa has installed road and speed humps in selected areas of the barangay following multiple complaints about motorists allegedly driving too fast within the community.

The road safety measure was reported on April 27, 2026, by Barangay Captain Rod Catologan Jr., who said the installation was made to help prevent possible accidents, especially in areas where residents, pedestrians, children, and families may be affected by speeding vehicles.

Speed humps are commonly used in residential areas to encourage drivers and motorcycle riders to slow down. In barangay roads where people regularly walk, cross, or move near homes, such measures can help reduce risks caused by reckless or excessive speed.

According to the barangay, the installation was carried out in response to residents’ concerns about fast-moving motorists passing through the area. By placing speed humps, Barangay Pag-asa aims to make roads safer and remind drivers to observe caution while traveling within the community.

The initiative reflects the importance of responding quickly to public safety concerns raised by residents. In many communities, road safety problems are first observed by people living in the area, especially those who regularly witness speeding, near-accidents, or unsafe driving behavior.

The installation of speed humps is expected to help reduce the likelihood of road incidents and encourage more responsible driving. It also serves as a visible reminder that barangay roads are shared spaces where motorists must consider the safety of pedestrians and nearby households.

Barangay Captain Catologan extended thanks to the barangay’s maintenance team and Kagawad Pong Anonat for their work in completing the road safety improvement. Their effort helped ensure that the project was implemented for the benefit of residents.

Road safety remains an important concern at the barangay level, particularly in areas where vehicles pass close to homes, stores, schools, or community spaces. Simple interventions such as speed humps, proper signage, and regular reminders can contribute to safer movement within neighborhoods.

Barangay Pag-asa’s action also shows how local government units can address everyday safety concerns through practical and immediate solutions. By listening to residents and acting on their complaints, the barangay helps promote a more secure and orderly environment.

The newly installed speed humps are expected to support safer road use in Barangay Pag-asa and help protect residents from possible accidents caused by overspeeding motorists.
