At 3:00 AM today, the center of Typhoon "FRANCISCO" {MEKKHALA} was estimated based on all available data at 350 km East Northeast of Calayan, Cagayan or 275 km East of Basco, Batanes (20.3°N, 124.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 190 km/h. It is moving Northward at 10 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.

𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐂𝐀𝐒𝐓:
Western Visayas, Negros Island Region and Occidental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.

The rest of Visayas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to Southwest Monsoon.

The whole Visayas and Occidental Mindoro will experience light to moderate winds from the Southwest with moderate to rough seas.

Meanwhile, the Tropical Storm "HIGOS" (06c) is being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

All are advised to monitor for updates from DOST-PAGASA.

As of 8:00 AM today, 23 June 2026, the Super Typhoon "FRANCISCO" with international name "MEKKHALA" has weakened into a Typhoon category and is being monitored inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

Meanwhile, the Tropical Depression (06c) being monitored within the Philippine monitoring domain (TCID) has developed into a Tropical Storm "HIGOS".

All are advised to monitor updates from DOST-PAGASA.

At 3:00 AM today, the center of the eye of Super Typhoon "FRANCISCO" {MEKKHALA} was estimated based on all available data at 420 km East of Aparri, Cagayan (18.5°N, 125.6°E) with maximum sustained winds of 185 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 230 km/h. It is moving West Northwestward at 10 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

FORECAST:
Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.

The whole Visayas, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan including Kalayaan Islands will experience light to moderate winds from the Southwest with slight to moderate seas.

It is moving West Northwestward at 30 km/h. Southwest Monsoon affecting Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan.

Visayas, Palawan including Kalayaan Islands and Occidental Mindoro will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon.
