REGIONAL NO. 2 MOST WANTED NABBED IN ANTI-RAPE CASE IN SOUTHERN LEYTE

A regional-level Most Wanted Person was arrested by police operatives in a coordinated law enforcement operation in Southern Leyte earlier today, as the Philippine National Police (PNP) continues to intensify its campaign to locate and serve warrants against individuals facing serious charges.

Personnel from the Cebu City Police Office, in coordination with the Sogod Municipal Police Station and intelligence units in Southern Leyte, implemented a warrant of arrest in Brgy. Suba, Sogod. The operation resulted in the arrest of a 73-year-old Filipino male, a resident of Cebu City, identified as the Top 2 Most Wanted Person at the regional level.

Authorities said the warrant stemmed from multiple counts of violation of the Anti-Rape Law of 1997 issued by a Regional Trial Court in Cebu City. No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused. He is currently under the custody of the Sogod Municipal Police Station pending return of the warrant to the issuing court.

Chief PNP PGen Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the operating units for the swift and coordinated action, underscoring the value of sustained manhunt and intelligence-driven policing across regions.

β€œHindi po tayo titigil hangga’t ang mga may kaso ay hindi naihaharap sa korte. The PNP will continue to strengthen coordination and intelligence work to ensure that warrants are properly served and justice is pursued without delay,” the Chief PNP said.

He added that the accomplishment reflects the PNP’s Focused Agenda under Enhanced Managing Police Operations, reinforcing more coordinated field operations and stronger case build-up efforts. It also aligns with the security and law enforcement priorities of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. aimed at maintaining peace and order in communities nationwide.

The PNP said the successful operation highlights continued inter-unit cooperation and the importance of intelligence sharing in running after wanted persons, as it sustains its commitment to a β€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman” that delivers visible and felt police service to the public.
