For teachers and aspiring educators, it translates to more targeted support, better-designed programs, and policies grounded in evidence rather than guesswork. As we move into Days 3 and 4, the focus sharpens on locking in deliverables and guidelines that will shape quality teacher education beyond 2026.

When planning is done right, its impact is felt where it matters most: in classrooms, on campuses, and in communities. That is what the TEC Secretariat aims to further solidify through its continuous work.

The newly designated Teacher Education Centers of Excellence (TE-COEs) are set to play a vital role in shaping the future of Philippine education. As leaders in teacher preparation, research, curriculum innovation, and professional development for teachers and education leaders, these institutions are entrusted to help address some of the most pressing challenges in the education sector—from learning recovery and teacher shortages to workforce development and educational equity.

With 13 designated TE-COEs nationwide—five National COEs and eight Regional COEs—these institutions will serve as hubs of innovation, collaboration, and evidence-based reform, helping strengthen teacher education and develop the next generation of quality Filipino teachers.

Supported through scholarships, research funding, curriculum innovation, and community engagement initiatives, TE-COEs are empowered to drive lasting improvements across the teacher education sector.

"Hangad natin na sa lalong madaling panahon, ang bawat isang pamilya ay may nakapagtapos na anak sa kolehiyo," said Commission on Higher Education(CHED) Chairperson and Teacher Education Council (TEC) Vice-Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis during her State of Higher Education Address for CHED’s 32nd anniversary. This vision captures Filipino families’ hopes—parents seeking better opportunities, workers turning experience into recognized qualifications, and learners striving for quality education.

Philippine higher education is undergoing a profound transformation. In teacher education and training, the TEC is leading this evolution alongside CHED and partner stakeholders. Under Republic Act No. 11713 or the Excellence in Teacher Education Act of 2022, we launched two landmark initiatives to uplift the teaching profession: the Teacher Education Scholarship Program (TESP) and the Philippine Teacher Education Registry (PHILTER).

Together, we are strengthening the foundation for educational quality and advancing excellence in teacher education.
