AFP, Royal Brunei Navy Strengthen Naval Partnership for Regional Stability

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) and the Royal Brunei Navy reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral defense relations as AFP Acting Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Rommel P Roldan welcomed First Admiral Sahibul Bahari bin Haji Zainal Abidin, Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, during a courtesy visit on June 22, here.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both military leaders to discuss areas of mutual interest and explore ways to enhance cooperation in maritime security, defense engagement, and regional stability.

The AFP remains steadfast in fostering strong defense partnerships with regional partners, recognizing the importance of collaboration in addressing common security challenges and promoting a rules-based maritime order.

A major milestone in the pursuit of lasting peace and security in Sulu was celebrated on June 20, 2026, as the 1102nd Infantry “Ganarul” Brigade commemorated its 7th Founding Anniversary with the declaration of the Second District of Sulu as a Rido-Free, Gun-Free, and Peace-Centered Community (RFGFPCC) and the ceremonial turnover of 186 recovered fi****ms.

Held at Camp AKA in Barangay Bual, Luuk, the anniversary celebration highlighted the significant gains of the Brigade’s peace and security campaign achieved through close collaboration with local government units, security forces, traditional and religious leaders, and community stakeholders.
