QUEZON CITY—The National Labor Relations Commission (NLRC) took part in the 2nd Quarter Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on June 18, 2026 at 9AM, demonstrating safety protocols such as well-organized evacuation and response procedures.

Officials and employees performed the standard "duck, cover, and hold" response to the sound of the alarm. Designated safety marshals ensured that safety procedures were carried out efficiently as the workforce were guided through an orderly evacuation from their respective offices to the designated evacuation areas in the Main Office and Regional Arbitration Branches.

The NSED aims to assess the nation’s capacity to respond to earthquakes and serves as a cornerstone of the government’s disaster risk reduction and management strategy. This nationwide initiative is spearheaded by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council and the Office of Civil Defense.

Through this exercise, the NLRC joins the Department of Labor and Employment, under the leadership of Secretary Francis N. Tolentino, in reaffirming its commitment to the shared responsibility in promoting disaster resilience and in ensuring a safe environment for its workforce and clients, especially amid the recent earthquakes in Mindanao and the threat of "The Big One".
