Following the devastating Mindanao earthquake on June 8, experts from the University of the Philippines, led by teams from the UP Resilience Institute and UP Diliman Institute of Civil Engineering, were deployed to assist local governments through structural inspections and on-ground assessments aimed at strengthening disaster response and recovery efforts.

As part of the month-long Pride celebration in the university, the UPD Ugnayan ng Pahinungod, in partnership with LoveYourself Inc., held a free seminar discussing the different sexually transmitted infections (STIs) affecting Filipinos.

Adrian Dela Cruz, RN, MSN, discussed how a person can contract an STI, the symptoms to watch out for, and ways to prevent and treat these infections.

The seminar took place at the Student Union Building on June 16, 2026.

From community outreach programs in Alimodian and Passi City to the opening of the Paghanduraw exhibit in Miagao, UP Visayas will mark UP Public Service Day 2026 with a week-long celebration of initiatives that honor its legacy of service, education, and sustained collaboration with communities across the region.

On 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗲 𝟭𝟴, 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲, Ugnayan ng Pahinungod Baguio with the UPB Office of Public Affairs will be hosting an open house for the UP PUBLIC SERVICE DAY.

The open house gives a glimpse into what service really means as Iskolars ng bayan. A Photo exhibit will be on display for the whole day featuring stories of sacrifice, volunteerism, and being selfless at times where service is needed. This exhibit is open to all visitors.

The open house also provides a lens for 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 to know what it takes to be a UP Baguio student through a 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺. Last but not the least, the open house also highlights the place where UP Baguio is situated in, The Cordilleras. Chosen guests will be given a free museum tour where they will be immersed in the rich knowledge of the Indigenous cultures in Cordillera.

In celebration of UP Public Service Day 2026, UPLB invites the community to join Serbisyong Pampubliko: Gáling UPLB, Gâling UPLB! — a meaningful dialogue highlighting stories of collaboration, community engagement, and the university’s continuing commitment to public service for nation-building.

This Independence Day, we remember that before the Philippines was a republic, 92 Filipinos sat inside Barasoain Church in Malolos, Bulacan and wrote one from scratch.

The 1899 Malolos Constitution was the first republican constitution in Asia — drafted entirely by Filipinos, ratified on January 21, 1899, and dissolved within eleven months by American colonial forces. Its ideas outlasted the republic that wrote them.
