Tacloban City - In support of the country’s directive toward the responsible and strategic use of Artificial Intelligence in government, the Department of Information and Communications Technology - DICT continues advancing digital transformation efforts through 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗜 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗳𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀, part of the 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶 𝗔𝗜 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 in collaboration with Google.

Today in Tacloban City, DICT Region VIII, together with Google, CHED Region VIII, and Leyte Normal University, successfully gathered participants at the LNU Ballroom Hall for the second leg of this nationwide learning initiative, bringing government professionals, educators, and stakeholders together to explore the growing role of AI in the modern workplace.

Participants dove into Gemini in Gmail, the Gemini app, NotebookLM, Workspace Studio, and Gemini Enterprise, guided by Marikit Valderrama and the MaroonStudios team alongside Max Eddy from Google Chrome OS, who shared hands-on demos and real-world use cases.

The room buzzed with energy, questions answered straight from the experts, lightbulb moments after every prompt, and a crowd so thrilled they couldn't help but shout "AImazing!" once they saw their first AI-generated output come to life.

Beyond the excitement, participants walked away with fresh ideas on how AI can reshape the way they work, collaborate, and innovate.

Long lines and endless paperwork often delay important public services. To eliminate these hurdles, the government is following President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to "embrace digitalization to provide better service to the people."

In line with this vision, the DICT Region 8 team held an eLGU Admin Training and System Setup for Culaba, Biliran from June 15 to 18. Joined by 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐧. 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐩𝐡𝐫𝐞𝐲 𝐁. 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐛𝐚, local offices—including the BPLO, Treasury, Civil Registry, IT, and Bureau of Fire Protection—collaborated to align the platform with the town's revenue code, creating a clear roadmap for full integration in the coming months.

This puts Culaba one step closer to digital governance via the electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS), which will streamline business permits, community tax certificates, and civil registry files. The DICT Region 8 Team commends Culaba for its commitment to this transition, marking a major leap forward for the Ease of Doing Business in the municipality.
