In line with the 128th founding anniversary of the Department of Agriculture, some DA RFO8 employees participated in a bazaar held at the Carpark Area.

Anchored with this year’s theme, “𝘒𝘢𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘪 𝘯𝘨 𝘈𝘩𝘦𝘯𝘴𝘺𝘢, 𝘒𝘢𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘱𝘢𝘺 𝘯𝘨 𝘔𝘢𝘨𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘬𝘢’𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘢 𝘛𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘰 𝘴𝘢 𝘔𝘢𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘢𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘴”, this activity creates a venue for its employees to enjoy and celebrate the wonderful years of agricultural services by showcasing various products personally made and sold by them.

The bazaar featured talents and creativity through homemade delicacies which includes pastries, traditional Filipino snacks and meals, paired with hot and cold beverages, and RTWs and perfumes.

This celebration provided opportunities for the employees who work tirelessly behind the department’s programs and projects, leverage in diversified source of livelihood.

The Department of Agriculture was founded in year 1898. Through the years, its employees have shown commitment in fulfilling their respective roles to help sustain and develop the agri-fishery sector of the country.

| Farm fresh & future smart - Agri-aqua fair in Southern Leyte

The Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office VIII participated in the kick-off ceremony of the Agri-Aqua Fair, held on June 24, 2026, at the Capitol Tree Park, Maasin City, Southern Leyte. Organized by the Provincial Government of Southern Leyte through the Provincial Agricultural Services Office (PAgSO), the agri-fair showcased modern agricultural technologies, research innovations, and best practices that enhance productivity and promote resilience in the agriculture sector.

OIC-RTD Dr. Leonarda A. Londina, representing RED Rodel G. Macapañas, delivered a keynote message during the opening ceremony. Her message centered on resilience and recovery, food security and self-sufficiency, climate-smart agriculture, and farmers' empowerment.

Dir. Londina also emphasized that the department has allocated a total of P1.3 billion for the Province of Southern Leyte in the implementation of various agricultural programs and interventions this year.

“Padayon, mga parag-uma ug mangingisda! Together, we rebuild our sector, strengthen our harvests, and secure food for every family in Southern Leyte,” Dir. Londina enthused.

Aside from the opening of the agri-aqua trade fair, the participating municipalities competed for the best booth and best agri-icon, showcasing the craftsmanship and creativity of the local agriculture offices.

As part of the province’s 66th founding anniversary, the agri-aqua trade fair will run until July 1, 2026, offering consumers and visitors the opportunity to patronize local produce and learn about advancements in the agriculture and fishery sector. # # #

Mula sa Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture - AMIA

Bakit tayo nakararanas ng mga pag-ulan sa kabila ng El Niño? 🌧️

Marami ang nagtatanong: "Sabi El Niño, pero bakit umuulan at bumabaha pa rin?" Mahalagang maunawaan na ang El Niño ay hindi nangangahulugang "zero rainfall" o tuluyang kawalan ng ulan. Ito ay kondisyon kung saan ang kabuuang dami ng ulan ay mas mababa kaysa sa normal (below normal rainfall) sa loob ng mahabang panahon.

Batay sa pinakahuling ulat mula sa PAGASA, mayroong 82% hanggang 92% na posibilidad na ganap na mabuo ang El Niño ngayong Mayo hanggang Agosto 2026 at inaasahang magtatagal ito hanggang sa unang bahagi ng 2027.

Ang mga AMIA (Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture) Villages ay nananatiling resilient sa gitna ng banta ng El Niño sa pamamagitan ng pagpapatupad ng mga Climate-Resilient Agriculture (CRA) practices. Sa tulong ng Climate Information Services (CIS), ang mga weather forecast at climate outlook mula sa PAGASA ay pinagsasama sa mga teknikal na gabay ng DA. Gamit ang mga seasonal forecasts at farmers’ advisories, tinitiyak ng mga AMIA villages na ang pagpili ng "drought-tolerant" na binhi, pagpapatupad ng crop diversification, at pagsasaayos ng mga Small Farm Reservoirs (SFR) ay science-based, upang maprotektahan ang ani sa kabila ng inaasahang matinding init at iba pang climate hazards.

2. Conducts regular inspection and preventive maintenance of plumbing systems to ensure efficient water supply, proper sanitation, and prevention of leaks, clogging, and other plumbing-related issues.
3. Installs, replaces, and repairs damaged pipes, fittings, fixtures, and other plumbing components using appropriate tools and equipment.
4. Responds promptly to plumbing emergencies and other facility-related concerns t minimize disruption of office operations and prevent property damage.
