The 52nd Balyuan Rites once again brought together the people of Tacloban and Basey in a meaningful celebration of faith, history, and unity through our shared devotion to Señor Santo Niño.

More than a ceremonial exchange, Balyuan stands as a lasting symbol of the enduring bond between our communities, a tradition passed on through generations, rooted in friendship, cultural heritage, and unwavering faith.

As part of Sangyaw Festival 2026, this cherished observance reminds us of the values that continue to unite our people and strengthen our identity as Warays.

Tacloban City joined the Municipality of Basey this morning in the observance of the Pre Balyuan Rites, a cherished tradition that celebrates our shared devotion to Señor Santo Niño and the enduring friendship between our communities.

Highlights of the day included the traditional meeting of the two revered images, the welcome homage, the motorcade around Basey, and the concelebrated Mass at Buscada Church. Representing City Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez, Tourism Operations Office OIC Abigael Gatela conveyed the Mayor's message of gratitude and solidarity, reaffirming the commitment of Tacloban City to preserving this meaningful religious and cultural heritage.

As we prepare for the 52nd Balyuan Rites and the 137th Fiesta Celebration of Sto. Niño de Tacloban, may the blessings of Señor Santo Niño continue to strengthen our faith, unite our communities, and inspire future generations.
