Held in Tacloban City today (June 3), the MAOs meeting served as a platform to share updates, exchange best practices, address implementation concerns, and strengthen collaboration in advancing the goals of the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program.

𝘍𝘶𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘵𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘰𝘸.

| True to its tagline that says, “𝙎𝘼𝘼𝘿, 𝙠𝙖𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙮 𝙨𝙖 𝙢𝙖𝙪𝙣𝙡𝙖𝙙 𝙣𝙖 𝙗𝙪𝙝𝙖𝙮,” the program indeed lives beyond its purpose. 🌱👨‍🌾

Mr. Danilo G. Llanza, Board of Directors of Bagong Sabang Vegetable Raisers Association (BSVRA) from San Jose, Northern Samar, puts great emphasis on how the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program was able to immensely help them beyond the premise of their association.

[SAAD is a big help to my livelihood. We learned many things about swine raising that are applicable to our association, as well as to our own backyard piggery.]

As we are about to end the celebration of Farmers and Fisherfolks Month, may we continue to appreciate beyond what our dear farmers was able to put in the table, but how they strive to uplift their life to sustain their ability to further our food security in the region and in the nation.

Further and beyond, SAAD continues to be a companion for growth.

The spirit of teamwork is the secret ingredient behind the association's thriving fields. Alicel Luarez, the Association Secretary, describes the atmosphere as electric with a shared purpose.

It began with three piglets and a shared vision of a better life.

In the quiet coastal town of Maripipi Island, words were transformed into action when the Binalayan East Farmers and Fishermen Association (BEFFA) decided that their future was in their own hands. What started as a modest investment has now grown into a beacon of hope for a community.

BEFFA, a beneficiary of the Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program, received a livelihood project on poultry production in 2024. Consequently, the association's leadership saw an opportunity to diversify.

The soft clucking of hens now echoes as a sound of hope for members of the Barangay Aringit Farmers Association (BAFA), as the egg production project granted under the Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program Phase 2 continues to transform their lives.

Using Php45,000.00 from their savings, the association purchased 100 additional laying hens—a development that members say symbolizes more than just added stock. For these farmers, it represents a new hope and a more secure future.

TACLOBAN CITY - Farmer groups supported under the Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development (DA-SAAD) Program were engaged to supply agricultural products to the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Walang Gutom Program, resulting in combined sales amounting to Php198,210.00.

During the regionwide program caravan this month, the farmer groups delivered 1,200 kilograms of watermelons and 627 trays of eggs as part of the program’s food assistance initiative for vulnerable communities. The watermelons were sold at Php45.00 per kilogram, generating Php54,000.00, while the eggs were sold at Php230.00 per tray for a total of Php144,210.00.
