Bumisita nitong Sabado, June 20, si Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon sa Naga City upang inspeksyunin ang mga pangunahing proyektong pang-imprastraktura sa lungsod.
Kasama ni Dizon sina Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, mga opisyal ng DPWH Regional Office, at mga district engineer ng Camarines Sur sa pagtalakay sa pagpapalawak at pagsasaayos ng mga pangunahing lansangan sa sentro ng Naga City na inaasahang mapakikinabangan ng mga residente at estudyante.
Binisita rin ng mga opisyal ang ginagawang Naga Bypass Road na inaasahang makatutulong sa pagpapaluwag ng trapiko sa lungsod.
Matagal umanong naantala ang proyekto dahil sa mabagal na paglalabas ng pondo, ngunit nangako si Dizon at mga opisyal ng DPWH Bicol na matatapos ang bypass road at ang kasabay nitong drainage canal sa unang quarter ng 2027.
Nabanggit din ni Dizon na magpapatuloy ang mga proyekto para sa pagsasaayos at pagpapaganda ng Naga Airport. | via Peewee Bacuño/Stringer

Senator Erwin Tulfo is seeking legislation that would enforce a “no work, no pay” policy for top government officials who are absent from work without a valid excuse.
The proposed measure would cover the President, Vice President, senators, congressmen, other elected officials, Cabinet secretaries, and agency heads.
“Nakakahiya naman na yung mga tao namin o ordinaryong government employees ay walang sweldo kapag absent, pero kami na mga opisyal maski ilang linggo o buwan na absent, may sweldo?” he said.
Under the proposal, officials on unauthorized absence would lose access to allowances and other benefits while not reporting for duty.
“Dapat pantay-pantay--ordinary employee o high ranking man, no work, no pay ang lahat,” Tulfo noted.

Deputy Speaker Raymund Mendoza is pushing House Bill No. 8860, or the PATAS Act, which seeks to exempt workers earning ₱50,000 or less per month from paying income tax.
The proposal aims to provide financial relief to middle-class Filipinos facing rising living costs by allowing them to keep more of their earnings. Mendoza said the measure is intended to help workers better support their families and ease the burden of inflation and other economic challenges.
