National No Smoking Month is observed every June in the Philippines to raise awareness about the harmful effects of smoking and encourage individuals to quit to***co use and embrace a healthier lifestyle.
Established through Proclamation No. 183, signed by former President Fidel V. Ramos on May 30, 1993, the observance serves as an extension of World No To***co Day, celebrated annually every May 31 under the leadership of the World Health Organization (WHO). Together, these initiatives promote to***co control, support smoking cessation efforts, and strengthen public awareness of the health risks associated with to***co and ni****ne use.
This year's theme, โUnmasking the Appeal โ Countering Ni****ne and To***co Addiction,โ highlights the need to expose the tactics used by the to***co and ni****ne industries to make their products attractive, especially to young people. It emphasizes the dangers of ni****ne addiction and encourages individuals to make informed choices, avoid to***co and ni****ne use, and seek support to quit.
Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) remains steadfast in supporting this important advocacy through health lectures, awareness campaigns, and Smoking Cessation Counseling Services designed to help individuals begin their journey toward a healthier, smoke-free life.
For inquiries and assistance, please visit the Smoking Cessation Clinic located at the 2nd Floor OPD, beside the Public Health Department Office.

In celebration of World Blood Donor Day, the Davao Regional Medical Center (DRMC) Blood Bank conducted a series of activities on June 15, 2026, aimed at promoting voluntary blood donation and increasing awareness of the hospital's blood services among healthcare workers.
The celebration commenced with a bloodletting activity held at the DRMC Blood Bank from 8:00 AM to 12:00 NN. A total of 34 individuals participated in the donation drive, consisting of DRMC personnel and dependents. The activity successfully collected 34 units of blood, contributing to the hospital's efforts to maintain a safe and sufficient blood supply for patients requiring transfusion and other lifesaving interventions.
Following the blood donation activity, a DRMC Blood Program Orientation was conducted from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the DRMC Amphitheater. The orientation gathered DRMC personnel to enhance their understanding of blood services, donor recruitment, and transfusion-related practices.
The lecture series featured resource speakers Mr. Jaylord Pasawa, RN, Mr. Vincent Rebagay, RMT, and Mr. Marc Dave Salas, RN, who discussed various topics on the DRMC Blood Program, Ethical and Legal Aspects of Blood Transfusion, the Importance of Voluntary Non-Remunerated Blood Donation, Basics of Blood Donor Screening, and the Orientation on the Blood Request Workflow. The discussions provided participants with valuable knowledge on ensuring quality blood services and promoting responsible blood donation practices within the institution and the community.
The successful conduct of the World Blood Donor Day celebration reflects DRMC's commitment to strengthening blood donation initiatives and fostering a culture of volunteerism among healthcare workers. Through continuous education and active donor recruitment, the hospital remains dedicated to ensuring the availability of safe blood for patients who depend on this critical healthcare service.
The event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the DRMC Blood Bank and the Public Health Department (PHD)-Health Education and Promotion Office, whose partnership played a significant role in promoting awareness, encouraging participation, and advancing the shared mission of saving lives through voluntary blood donation.
