Following the magnitude 6.8 earthquake that affected parts of Mindanao, we would like to inform the public, families, and relatives of our trainees that the Regional Training Center (RTC) Zamboanga has been assessed and declared safe.
✅ All trainees are accounted for and safe.
✅ A complete headcount and verification have been conducted.
✅ No casualties or serious injuries have been reported among trainees.
✅ RTC facilities have undergone initial safety assessment and remain secure.
✅ Training personnel and staff are continuously monitoring the situation and coordinating with the appropriate authorities.
While operations remain stable, all trainees and personnel are advised to stay alert for possible aftershocks and continue following established safety protocols and emergency procedures.
We understand the concern of parents, guardians, and loved ones during this time. Rest assured that the welfare and safety of all trainees remain our highest priority. Updates will be provided as necessary through official channels.

Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit RTC Zamboanga conducts Mental Health Awareness Lecture
"𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘀 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵"
𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit RTC Zamboanga, led by LTJG DANICA O TUTANES PCG, in collaboration with LTJG ANNE A BLEN PCG and ENS YZAMIN YVON S OMAR PCG, successfully conducted a Mental Health Awareness Lecture for Coast Guard Non-Officers Course Class 120-2026 conducted on 05 to 12 May 2026 at Regional Training Center - Zamboanga.
The session highlighted the importance of mental health and its key role in supporting overall well-being and readiness for duty. Participants were equipped with practical techniques to help manage stress and handle everyday challenges effectively, particularly while performing their responsibilities.
An open debriefing session then took place, allowing participants to discuss their experiences and share coping strategies. This activity created a supportive atmosphere that encouraged open communication and reinforced camaraderie among the participants.
The Coast Guard Nursing Service continues to uphold its commitment to promoting a holistic training environment that develops not only physical and intellectual capabilities but also mental resilience.

𝙇𝙤𝙤𝙠: The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit RTC Zamboanga (CGNSSU-RTC Zamboanga) conducted a Two (2) day Basic Life Support (BLS) Training for Thirty (30) Coast Guard RTC Zamboanga personnel from 10 to 11 March 2026. The participants were successfully trained in essential components of Basic Life Support, management of airway obstructions, and immediate response procedures.
The activity aimed to introduce and enhance the knowledge and skills of our Coastguardians in Basic Life Support, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Foreign Body Airway Management. These skills are vitally important, as the PCG is considered a first responder not only in Maritime Search and Rescue but also in all emergency situations and disasters. The CGNS reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening the readiness and operational capability of the PCG and continued dedication to its mandate of protecting lives and promoting safety with professionalism and compassion.

The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit RTC Zamboanga, together with the CG Nursing Service Sub-Unit Southwestern Mindanao, in partnership with Zamboanga City Medical Center and Villa Yzabel Beach Resort successfully held an outreach program earlier today at the ZCMC Cancer Center.
Ramadan is a sacred month of spiritual reflection, mercy, compassion, and renewed devotion to Almighty Allah. It is a season when hearts unite in faith and acts of kindness multiply.
As the blessed month of Ramadan approaches, this activity aims to share blessings and extend assistance to the patients of the aforementioned facility. As part of the activity, distributions of rice and small monetary amounts were given. All goods distributed were generously donated by Villa Yzabel Beach Resort

𝓛𝓞𝓞𝓚: The Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit RTC Zamboanga (CGNSSU-RTC Zamboanga) together with Coast Guard Nursing Service Sub-Unit Southwestern Mindanao (CGNSSU-SWM) conducted a five (5) days Basic Life Support (BLS) and Standard First Aid (SFA) Orientation for the five (5) companies of CGNOC CL 112-2025 totaling five hundred ninety-eight (598) PCG trainees of the Regional Training Center Zamboanga from 15 to 19 September 2025.
The activity aimed to introduce and enhance the knowledge and skills of our future Coastguardians in First Aid and Basic Life Support, including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Foreign Body Airway Management. On 10 and 18 June 2025, personnel from Nursing Service RTC-Zamboanga, conducted a 𝑴𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒍 𝑯𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒕𝒉 𝑨𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒆𝒏𝒆𝒔𝒔 session for the trainees of CCGNO Class 112-2025 at the Mess Hall RTC-Zamboanga, Gate 4 Ecozone, San Ramon, Zamboanga City
The aim of this initiative is to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote mental well-being through education, engagement, and support. To educate the trainees about mental health and common disorders, encourage open conversations and help-seeking behavior, connect people to resources, support systems, and professional help, promote habits that contribute to positive mental health.
It's okay to ask for help. Mental health is health. Let's stand together to end the stigma.
