Earlier this week, as part of the Embassy’s recreation day, the team visited the Ushaiger heritage village & the Al-Salem Museum o enjoy the local culture and heritage of the beautiful Shaqra region!

The Embassy of Finland in Riyadh warmly congratulates the Finnish men’s national ice hockey team on their outstanding victory at the Ice Hockey World Championship against Switzerland!
Ice hockey holds a very special place in the hearts of Finns. It is more than just a sport—it is a source of national pride, unity, and passion.
As is tradition in Finland, the victory will be celebrated “at the market square” – torilla tavataan! – bringing fans together to share the joy of success.
We also wish to highlight Finland’s strong presence in women’s ice hockey. The Finnish women’s national team continues to excel internationally and will compete for the World Championship title in November 2026.👏🇫🇮

تتقدم سفارة فنلندا في الرياض بأحر التهاني إلى المنتخب الفنلندي للرجال في هوكي الجليد بمناسبة فوزه الباهر على سويسرا في بطولة العالم لهوكي الجليد!

يحتل هوكي الجليد مكانة خاصة في قلوب الفنلنديين، فهو ليس مجرد رياضة، بل مصدر فخر وطني ووحدة وشغف.
وكما جرت العادة في فنلندا، سيُحتفل بهذا الفوز في ساحة السوق - توريلا تافاتان! - حيث يجتمع المشجعون لمشاركة فرحة النجاح.

كما نود أن نسلط الضوء على الحضور القوي لفنلندا في هوكي الجليد للسيدات، حيث يواصل المنتخب الفنلندي للسيدات تألقه على المستوى الدولي، وسيتنافس على لقب بطولة العالم في نوفمبر 2026. 👏🇫🇮

We celebrated Vappu in Riyadh this year with our Moomin friend who supervised the making of the Vappu donuts (munkki). The traditional Finnish Vappu treat tastes great here too.

Congratulations for NASA for the successful Artemis II launch, the first manned lunar mission in 50 years! Congratulations for the European Space Agency as well! ESA has provided the European Service Module for the Orion spacecraft, making the journey to the moon and back possible. We also want to congratulate Finnish Anzhelika Iudakova, who was one of the top five Moon Mascot contest finalists amongst over the 2 600 students from over 50 countries with her entry “Big Steps of Little Octopus”. It is an amazing achievement to get to a top five in a global contest organised by NASA and regarding a manned lunar flight! The theme by Anzhelika Iudakova is described as: “Big Steps of Little Octopus” is an Earth-colored octopus wearing an astronaut helmet and holding the Moon and the planets of our solar system. This design is inspired by the intelligence and dexterity of the octopus, operating as one sole creature despite having many tentacles.

نتوجه بالتهنئة إلى وكالة ناسا على إطلاق مهمة أرتميس 2 بنجاح، وهي أول مهمة مأهولة إلى القمر منذ 50 عامًا! كما نتوجه بالتهنئة إلى وكالة الفضاء الأوروبية (ESA) التي وفرت وحدة الخدمة الأوروبية لمركبة أوريون الفضائية، مما جعل الرحلة إلى القمر والعودة ممكنة. و نهنئ الفنلندية أنجليكا يوداكوفا، التي كانت من بين أفضل خمسة متسابقين في مسابقة تصميم تميمة القمر، من بين أكثر من 2600 طالب من أكثر من 50 دولة، عن تصميمها "خطوات كبيرة لأخطبوط صغير". إنه لإنجاز رائع الوصول إلى المراكز الخمسة الأولى في مسابقة عالمية تنظمها ناسا وتتعلق برحلة مأهولة إلى القمر! يُعرّف تصميم أنجليكا يوداكوفا بأنه: "خطوات كبيرة لأخطبوط صغير"، وهو عبارة عن أخطبوط بلون الأرض يرتدي خوذة رائد فضاء ويحمل القمر وكواكب مجموعتنا الشمسية. هذا التصميم مستوحى من ذكاء الأخطبوط وبراعته، فهو يعمل ككائن واحد رغم امتلاكه العديد من المجسات.
