How did an island nation earn the trust of its good and services globally?

For 60 years, Singapore's standards and conformance ecosystem has been the answer. From the founding of the Singapore Standards Council in the 1960s, Singapore Accreditation Council establishment in 1996, to becoming Asia's first non-OECD member to gain OECD Good Laboratory Practice Recognition in 2010, Singapore has been building on this foundation to drive investment, innovation and growth.

Advancing the next frontier with standards.

Last week, Enterprise Singapore convened the Standards and Conformance (S&C) Summit, bringing together policymakers, industry leaders and technical experts to explore how S&C can drive business growth and competitiveness in the face of rapid change in technology and trade.

Minister for Sustainability and the Environment and Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations Grace Fu opened the Summit, highlighting the role of standards and conformance in enabling growth in emerging areas from AI, quantum technologies, biotechnology to sustainability.

The S&C Summit also saw the signing of three MOUs: a bilateral cooperation framework with the ANSI - American National Standards Institute on critical and emerging technologies, and partnerships with Verra and Gold Standard to strengthen Singapore's role as a trusted hub for carbon services and climate action in the region.

At EnterpriseSG, we're committed to helping businesses turn standards and conformance into a lever for growth.

Sixty years of standards. Forty years of accreditation.

Yesterday, Enterprise Singapore marked both these milestones at the Standards and Conformance (S&C) Gala Dinner. The event brought together leaders from industry, academia and government to celebrate the role that standards and conformance have played in enabling businesses to access global markets and its contribution to Singapore's economy.

A key highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the S&C 2035 Roadmap by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong. This sets the direction for the ecosystem to further strengthen the capabilities and partnerships needed to navigate an increasingly complex global environment.

The evening also saw the signing of two MOUs on AI pre-standardisation and AI S&C capacity building with national standards bodies from around the world to deepen international collaboration and support capability development.

At Enterprise Singapore, we’re committed to helping businesses use standards and conformance for where they’re growing.

We were proud to support President Tharman Shanmugaratnam's historic State Visit to Tanzania this week, alongside Singapore Business Federation and their delegation of 15 companies spanning sectors from agri-commodities and logistics to fintech and consumer goods.

A highlight was visiting the Darajani Souk in Stone Town — where Singapore's Nomanbhoy & Sons Pte. Ltd partnered with the Zanzibar government to transform a century-old market from 150 to over 550 shop units, improving livelihoods and reinvigorating a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The visit also welcomed the East African Community's (EAC) intention to negotiate an EAC-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, and the signing of Memorandums of Understanding spanning taxation, carbon credits, trade, skills development, and more with Tanzania — laying a strong foundation for the next chapter of Singapore-Tanzania relations.

Human interaction lies at the heart of every breakthrough innovation.

That’s why we partnered with Applied Ventures to co-organise Applied Startup Technology & Research Accelerator (ASTRA) Singapore 2026. At this inaugural event, trailblazers at the cutting edge of semiconductors, embodied AI and industrial automation took the occasion in meeting with industry leaders to validate and co-develop their ideas.

As advanced manufacturing evolves, Enterprise Singapore will continue to support our startups and businesses to access more opportunities to grow and scale.

Special thanks to Aditya Mathur, Pranav Mehrotra, Om Nalamasu, Tim Deane, KC Ong, Brian Tan, Anand Kamannavar and our MD Cindy Khoo, for bringing their insights and expertise to the session.
