Sometimes, understanding what really happened requires asking the harder questions.

In court, after a witness gives their account, the opposing party's lawyer gets to question them directly — testing whether their story holds up under scrutiny. This process is known as cross-examination.

By allowing both sides to challenge the evidence presented, cross-examination helps ensure that no single account goes unquestioned — making it a cornerstone of a fair trial.

Singapore and Vietnam have taken a significant step in strengthening bilateral judicial ties. The Supreme Court of Singapore and the Supreme People's Court of Vietnam will cooperate on the development of a specialised international commercial court in Vietnam. This comes as part of an MOU signed on 29 May. Building on a 2017 agreement, the MOU deepens cooperation between the two judiciaries which covers knowledge exchange, judicial training, and the sharing of best practices in court processes - reinforcing both nations' commitment to robust and internationally competitive dispute resolution frameworks.
