From life lessons and words of encouragement to quiet moments of support, fathers and father figures play an important role in shaping who we become.
Today, we celebrate and thank all fathers for the care, guidance and strength they bring to their families every day.

Biology is already quietly at work in many of the products we use โ from the yoghurt in our fridge to the enzymes in our laundry detergent.
Synthetic biology takes that natural ability and helps us create smarter and more precise products โ allowing scientists to engineer living organisms to produce ingredients, materials and compounds that are better, more sustainable, and in some cases, entirely new.
The opportunity is significant. The global bioeconomy is projected to contribute up to US$4 trillion annually within the next decade โ and Singapore has the opportunity to be part of that growth.
That is why A*STAR SIFBI and National University of Singapore have launched the SIFBIโNUS Synthetic Biology Joint Lab โ a platform designed to close the gap between scientific discovery and commercial products that companies can actually bring to market.
Led by Professor Jay Keasling, one of the world's foremost figures in synthetic biology, the lab brings together three capabilities:
๐น AI-guided design to dramatically shorten development timelines
๐น Scalable biological production using engineered fungal systems
๐น Access to novel compounds for ingredients, materials and health applications
Companies keen to develop sustainable alternatives can engage the lab directly โ bringing their problem statements and co-developing solutions to scale innovations commercially.

A*STAR was honoured to host H.E. President To Lam of Vietnam and his delegation at A*STAR ARTC and A*STAR SIMTech during his State Visit to Singapore, accompanied by Minister for Digital Development and Information Mrs Josephine Teo as Minister-in-Attendance.
The visit showcased Singaporeโs advanced manufacturing capabilities, including embodied AI and humanoid robotics at the Humanoid Arena for High-Value Manufacturing (HuMan), as well as smart manufacturing technologies at the Model Factory.
It also marked a significant step in strengthening Singapore-Vietnam innovation ties, with A*STAR ARTC and Becamex IDC signing an MoU to establish the Vietnam Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (VAMRC).
Together, these efforts will help bring research closer to industry, strengthen regional manufacturing capabilities, and accelerate technology adoption across Southeast Asia.

How do we know the measurements we rely on every day are accurate?
From the fuel used in ships to the products we manufacture and the standards that keep us safe, measurement science helps ensure we can trust the numbers behind the systems we depend on.
At A*STAR National Metrology Centre (A*STAR NMC), Dr Fan Yan is helping make that possible. Her work in developing automated calibration systems improves measurement reliability, supporting industries that rely on precision every day.
Beyond research, Dr Fan is also passionate about growing capabilities in the field. As Singaporeโs first WSQ-certified adult trainer in metrology, she has helped strengthen training and raise measurement standards across the industry.
Recognised on the SG100 Women in Tech List 2025 and as a recipient of the Exemplary SkillsFuture @ Public Service Award 2024, Dr Fanโs journey shows how science behind the scenes helps build trust, quality and confidence in the world around us.

Hosted in Singapore for the first time, brought together researchers, clinicians, industry and public health leaders to strengthen collaboration in vaccines, immunotherapy and translational science.
Discussions across the congress highlighted a shared priority: building stronger regional capabilities in research, clinical trials, manufacturing and rapid deployment to prepare for future health threats.
Together with partners across healthcare and industry, A*STAR continues to translate science into solutions that strengthen health resilience in Singapore and beyond.
