Three weeks ago, we shared the joyful news of the arrival of Ayaan, a critically endangered Sumatran orangutan. Today, we're taking you behind the scenes of the delivery room.🦧🩺

Carried by mum Chomel through a pregnancy complicated by placenta praevia and delivered via caesarean section, Ayaan's birth is the first documented case in an orangutan with this condition where both mum and infant survived. This outcome reflects the close collaboration between our vets and animal care teams — whose support continued well beyond the delivery room, as keepers cared closely for Chomel as she recovered.

Today, Ayaan is growing stronger every day in mum's arms, and charming everyone who meets him at Singapore Zoo.

💚 PANGOLIN PUP NAME VOTING 💚

Our little Sunda pangolin pup born at Night Safari has been revealed to be a female! We've loved watching her grow and explore her world with Mum, Gumby, by her side - and now, we need your help to vote for a name for this sweet little one.

1️⃣ Kejora: Means "Morning Star", symbolising hope as being the first pango pup born in 10 years in Night Safari.
2️⃣ Raya: Means "Big, Great, or Grand", symbolising her birth status.
3️⃣ Jelita: Means "Beautiful, Graceful, Elegant", exactly what she is.

For more than 50 years, generations of Singaporeans have grown up with us – school excursions, family outings, and first encounters with wildlife that stayed with you.

Ten years ago, we embarked on an ambitious journey to reimagine what that could mean. Two new wildlife parks, indoor attractions, public spaces, and accommodations – each opening bringing us closer to the vision. Last week, we celebrated the grand opening of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, marked by the completion of Rainforest Wild Adventure EAST, and the journey to become Singapore’s wildlife and nature destination is now complete. 💚

To everyone who has been part of this journey with us, thank you. We hope what we've built here inspires a deeper love for wildlife and nature for Singaporeans and for visitors from around the world.
