Through shared experiences and steadfast support, an NSF and his father discover that while generations may differ, the values and bonds forged through National Service endure.

Because behind every uniform is strength – and behind that strength are the people who stand beside us.

Minister of State for Defence Desmond Choo 朱倍庆 attended the Appreciating NSmen Initiatives 2026 event at SAFRA Yishun earlier today alongside students, national servicemen and their families.

As part of efforts to bring National Service closer to the community, SAFRA will be doubling the number of NS Experience Camps for families, children and women – with a total of 26 camps planned from June 2026 to March 2027. Through a range of hands-on, NS-inspired activities, participants can gain a deeper appreciation of the commitment and sacrifices made by our national servicemen in safeguarding 🇸🇬 and their loved ones.

The event also recognised the winners of the Appreciating NSmen Video Competition 2026. A total of 202 students from 22 secondary schools, junior colleges and tertiary institutions submitted videos expressing their gratitude to national servicemen – a significant increase in participation from last year.

Beyond the competition, more than 420 preschool centres and over 140 merchant partners are supporting this year’s Appreciating NSmen initiatives. Together, these efforts reflect the strong support of families, schools, businesses and the wider community for our national servicemen.

In conjunction with SAF Day 🪖 on 1 Jul, national servicemen and SAFRA members can also look forward to more than 170 deals and promotions from participating merchants. More at www.safra.sg/appreciationdeals
