"🌾 Did you know hay should make up the majority of your rabbit’s diet?
Many rabbit owners focus on pellets and treats, but hay is actually the foundation of a healthy rabbit diet.
Hay helps:
🐰 Wear down continuously growing teeth
🐰 Support healthy digestion
🐰 Provide essential fibre for gut movement
🐰 Encourage natural chewing and foraging behaviour
In fact, rabbits should have unlimited access to fresh grass hay every day.
A rabbit that eats plenty of hay is often a healthier rabbit! 💛
If your rabbit is eating less hay than usual, dropping food, producing fewer droppings, or showing signs of dental discomfort, it’s best to have them checked by a veterinarian.
📞 Contact My Family Vet if you have any concerns about your rabbit’s diet, teeth, or digestive health.

⚠️ Did you know? Counterfeit and unregulated pet products have been reported in various markets around the world.
While many reputable online retailers provide genuine products, it is important to purchase medications, parasite preventives, supplements, and prescription diets from trusted and authorised sources.
Products from unknown or unauthorised sellers may:
• Be improperly stored or transported
• Have damaged or altered packaging
• Be expired or close to expiry
• Contain incorrect ingredients or dosages
• Not perform as expected
Before giving any medication, flea & tick preventive, supplement, or prescription product to your pet, always check the packaging carefully and ensure it comes from a reliable source.
🐾 If you are unsure whether a product is suitable for your pet, speak with your veterinarian before use.
At My Family Vet, we are happy to answer any questions regarding your pet’s medications and preventive care.

🐶 Did you know your dog’s gums can give important clues about their health?
Healthy gums are usually pink and moist. Changes in gum colour, such as bright red, dark red, pale, blue, or grey, can be signs of heat stress, poor circulation, low oxygen levels, shock, or other medical emergencies.
Gums can also become red, swollen, or bleed easily due to dental disease and gum inflammation, which are common but often overlooked problems in pets.
A quick gum check at home only takes a few seconds and may help you spot problems early. Regular dental examinations can also help detect oral disease before it becomes painful or affects your pet’s overall health.
If you are ever unsure whether your pet’s gums or teeth look normal, our team at My Family Vet is happy to help. 🩺🐾
📞 Contact us if you would like to arrange a dental check-up or discuss your pet’s oral health.
