The DesignSingapore Council (Dsg) is the national agency that promotes design. Our work focuses on three areas. www.designsingapore.org

DesignSingapore Council’s (Dsg) vision is for Singapore to be an innovation-driven economy and a loveable city through design by 2025. As the national agency that promotes design, our mission is to develop the design sector, help Singapore use design for innovation and growth, and make life better in this UNESCO Creative City of Design. Come shape the first-ever Singapore Design Biennale (SDB) with us!

We are calling on designers, artists, researchers, technologists, organisations, and interdisciplinary practitioners to submit proposals responding to SDB’s inaugural theme: 1.35°N.

Referencing Singapore’s geographical latitude – uniquely positioned 1.35°N above the equator – Singapore has long navigated constraints, adapted to change, and continually prototyped new possibilities. Building on this spirit of experimentation, we welcome proposals that explore new possibilities for our future.

The inaugural Singapore Design Biennale (SDB) will take place from 14 May to 20 June 2027, with the theme 1.35°N.

Organised by the DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), SDB will build on Singapore’s global renown as a nation shaped by design, succeeding the long-established Singapore Design Week with an expanded format that will be greater in ambition, scale and international partnerships.

Turning a decade-long ambition into action takes more than good intentions – it takes a decisive plan.

The first of our 3-Year Action Plans is built around three strategies:

• Driving the adoption of design in key growth areas
• Activating communities to use design in everyday life
• Amplifying the value and impact of Singapore design

Find out how we are laying the groundwork for a thriving design ecosystem.

What happens when you apply design to social challenges?

Instead of top-down planning, a design-led approach brings people and partners into the same room to co-create solutions from the ground up — youth designing for youth, backed by the agencies and organisations that can help them scale.

How do you turn design award wins into a launchpad?

Through the International Design Awards Scheme (IDEAS), Dsg helps scale access to leading international design award platforms by defraying award-related costs through reimbursement-based support.

IDEAS also helps provide extended visibility to award-winning projects through Dsg’s networks, reaching new audiences in Singapore and beyond.

Visit dsg.sg/IDEAS for more information and how to apply.

Where technology shows what is possible, design steps in to connect utility with heart so that progress doesn’t feel cold.

The best digital tools are the ones that adapt to our lives, not the other way around. By injecting empathy and user-centredness into innovation, Singapore designers ensure that tomorrow’s tech builds a smarter nation – and a kinder, more inclusive one too.

Singapore consistently ranks among the world’s most visited cities. But staying on that list means keeping pace with travellers’ evolving expectations. Moving from passive sightseeing to designing authentic experiences rooted in culture and place.

For Singapore designers, this is a growing opportunity to shape tourism and lifestyle experiences that don’t just attract visitors, but give locals new reasons to fall in love with their city.

Come see design in a new light at i Light Singapore 2026! ✨

Part of this year’s festival, i Light Future 2026, presented by DesignSingapore Council (Dsg), is a new mentorship programme that supports and spotlights emerging creatives. Guided by Lead Mentor Craig Neo of digital design studio A&C Atelier, this inaugural edition features two installations by young Singaporean designers bringing to life the festival’s theme of “Movement”:

💡Market Cycles by Tan Mei Yee and Ng Choon Wee
An illuminated architectural installation built from repurposed wet market crates that reconsiders the overlooked systems and objects that shape everyday life.

💡 Steps by Nawal Bte Azhar
Intersecting illuminated frames form seemingly impossible staircases that shift in perspective as visitors move around them.

This installation is co-presented by Aedas.

In line with the DESIGN 2035 Masterplan, the programme reflects Dsg’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of design talent.
