The International Architectural Competition – Park Zone 3, Burgas, Bulgaria

-The W(hole) Burgas-
We are pleased to announce that our proposal for this design competition ranked 18th out of 145 submissions globally, placing us in the Top 20.

The competition area, known as 'The Hole,' marks the center of the port city of Burgas. In a broad sense, the proposal aims to represent the strategic importance of Burgas as a major city on the Black Sea coast. The central location of 'The Hole' perfectly embodies the connectivity between the city, the site, and its surrounding elements. A seamless blending of various functions, scales, and architectural styles with new functional requirements is meticulously interwoven.

The W(hole) creates a 'medium' to unify these diverse contextual characteristics through a pure and simple arrangement of forms and planes. Public activity spaces for various groups are organized using dots, lines, planes, masses, and volumes, loosely demarcating areas for concurrent activities. This creates a central public space for the entire Burgasian community, linking the past, present, and future of Burgas with the lives of its contemporary people.

We are immensely proud to announce that the Lanna Rice Research Center at Chiang Mai University has been recognized with the prestigious GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2025 (G Mark), presented by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP).

This achievement highlights our commitment to creating designs that are not just beautiful, but also meaningful and impactful. A huge thank you to the team and to Chiang Mai University for the opportunity to design this landmark facility.

The entire team is deeply honored to receive this recognition from such a respected institution and looks forward to seeing the Center continue its vital work in advancing rice research in the Lanna region and beyond.
