The cohort will spend the next 12 months exploring leadership tools and strategies to help them and their organisations become more flexible, resilient, and innovative.

Amb. Sefue to UONGOZI graduates: An African proverb says, “A tree is strong because of the roots.” And I tell you, by all means be proud of your diplomas and certificates, you have earned them; but cherish above all else the roots of character that I hope we have given you, for that is what will make you strong and transformative leaders.

Ms. Mignucci: To those of you graduating today, whether you come from the government, from the private sector, or from the civil society, you are joining an alumni community, not just collecting a certificate. This community is in itself a resource that belongs to Tanzania and to the world.

Ms. Bruce on UONGOZI Institute’s Women’s Leadership Programme: I have been part of many women’s leadership programmes at Yale, and this one, in partnership with the UONGOZI Institute, rose above and beyond. What made this learning journey so remarkable was you, as individuals and as a community. You showed up ready to engage meaningfully and take the risks needed to grow. You asked hard questions and you pushed to transform, to become the best versions of yourselves. It was an honor to watch this unfold.
