Every year during the week of National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week, an employee is chosen as the Vermilion Parish Communications District Dispatcher of the Year. This year we would like to congratulate Natisha Breaux on being chosen by her peers for this honor.
Natisha has demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication, professionalism, and service that exemplifies what it means to be named Dispatcher of the Year.
Throughout her time with the Vermilion Parish Communications District, Natisha has consistently shown strong performance in both call-taking and dispatching, maintaining composure under pressure while ensuring that every call is handled with accuracy and care. Her reliability and work ethic make her a dependable presence on every shift, and her ability to support both her team and the public reflects a deep commitment to the mission of emergency communications.
Beyond her role in the communications center, Natishaโs service to the fire community further highlights her dedication to public safety. She has been an active member of the Erath Volunteer Fire Department for the past nine years, where she has contributed not only operationally but also administratively. For the past three years, she has served as Secretary for the Erath Fire Department, and for the past two years, she has also served as Secretary for the Vermilion Parish Fire Association. These roles require organization, accountability, and a strong sense of responsibility, qualities she consistently demonstrates.
Natishaโs continued involvement, leadership, and commitment to both dispatch and the fire service make her a well-rounded and highly deserving recipient of this recognition.
Join me once more in congratulating Natisha on this well-deserved honor!

The Abbeville Fire Department welcomes five new recruits ready to answer the call.
Theyโll be putting in the work early by training side by side with our crews, learning the job, and earning their place before heading to the academy in August.
This isnโt just a job. Itโs long hours, hard days, and a commitment to showing up when it matters most.
Theyโve taken the first step. Now the work begins.
Welcome to the brotherhood.
