June 1 marks the official start of the 2026 Atlantic Hurricane Season. While none of us can predict exactly what the months ahead will bring, we can take steps now to be prepared before a storm ever appears on the radar.
One of the easiest ways to stay informed during severe weather is by signing up for emergency alerts through RAVE and Smart911. These systems provide important information before, during, and after emergencies, including hurricanes, flooding, road closures, boil advisories, and other critical notifications.
If you have a landline, you may already be in the system. However, many residents rely solely on cell phones and may not receive important emergency notifications unless they register.

for parish-wide emergency notifications
Or download the Smart911 app to customize the alerts you receive and provide emergency responders with important information about your household.
Preparedness starts before hurricane season becomes headline news. Take a few moments today to ensure you and your family can receive important emergency information when it matters most.
Stay informed. Stay prepared. Stay safe.
