Congratulations to Trinity on graduating from Vermilion Catholic High School!
Over the past two years, Trinity has proudly served as a member of the Abbeville Mayorโs Youth Council and was one of the founding members who helped build the program from the very beginning.
Through her leadership, involvement, and dedication, Trinity helped shape AMYC into the group it is today and made a lasting impact on both the council and her fellow members.
While she will certainly be missed, we are excited to see where this next chapter takes her and cannot wait to watch all she accomplishes in the future.
Congratulations again, Trinity!

This week, some members of the Abbeville Mayorโs Youth Council celebrated their Ring Ceremony at Abbeville High School.
Congratulations to Jaylie, Jah'Zyren, Karleijah, and Aaliyah as they officially begin their senior year journey.
Watching these students grow through the program has been something truly special. Over the past year, they have stepped into leadership roles, become more confident, and continued finding ways to make a positive impact in both their school and community.
It was an honor to celebrate this important moment with them, and we cannot wait to see all they accomplish during their senior year and beyond. Their future is incredibly bright.

As the year is coming to a close for the Abbeville Mayorโs Youth Council, our final meeting gave members the opportunity to reflect on the past year, the lessons they learned, the experiences they shared, and even topics they wished they could have explored more.
Over the last two years, this group has truly grown into something special. Watching these students build friendships, step into leadership roles, gain confidence, and become more involved in their community has been incredible to witness.
While it is hard to believe the year is already over, this group will absolutely be missed. Each member brought something unique to the council, and we are excited to see what the future holds for all of them as they continue into new chapters and opportunities ahead.
We also hope to see many familiar faces return next year and inspire future student leaders in our community.
Thank you to every student who helped make this year memorable.

This past weekend, several members took part in the Community Wellness Volleyball Jamboree at AA Comeaux Park.
Our team, made up of some of the youngest players, along with Mayor White and our AMYC liaison, may not have taken home the top title, but we had a great time competing, laughing, and being part of something bigger than the game.
More than anything, the day was about coming together as a community. From the teams on the court to the families and organizations supporting the event, it was a great reminder of what makes Abbeville special.
And the best part it was all for a great cause.

This past Saturday, members of the Abbeville Mayorโs Youth Council took part in Love the Boot Week by helping clean up around AA Comeaux Park.
Love the Boot is Louisianaโs largest litter removal and beautification effort, and our youth were proud to do their part in helping keep Abbeville clean and beautiful.
Weโre proud of these young leaders for stepping up, giving back, and showing pride in their community.

Last weekโs meeting looked a little different, it was a hands-on field trip giving members a behind-the-scenes look at how our cityโs water systems operate every single day.
Members toured the City of Abbeville Water Plant, where they learned that our community uses an average of 2.3 million gallons of water per day. The Water Production Supervisor walked them through the ongoing improvements at the plant and explained what those upgrades mean for reliability and service for residents.
The group also visited the Wastewater Treatment Facility, where the Wastewater Treatment Supervisor provided a full tour and explained the treatment process. The plant treats an average of 1.7 million gallons per day, with treated water safely returned to the coulee after processing.
This experience gave our Youth Council members a real-world look at the infrastructure that keeps Abbeville running and highlighted the importance of these essential services in our daily lives.

Even with school out for Spring Break, our Youth Council officers and other members still showed up this morning for Coffee Talk, answering the call to stay engaged in their community.
Itโs important that our youth have the opportunity to see firsthand how open conversations happen between leadership and residents, and how everyone works together for the betterment of our community.
Weโre proud of these young leaders for continuing to show up, listen, and be part of the conversation.

Yesterdayโs Abbeville Mayorโs Youth Council meeting was an exciting and eye-opening experience for our members.
Members had the opportunity to hear from Sheriff Eddie Langlinais and members of the Vermilion Parish Sheriff's Office Technology Support Unit. The group learned how the Sheriffโs Office and the City of Abbeville, work together to serve and protect our community, while also gaining insight into how the Technology Support Unit supports law enforcement operations across the entire parish.
Members were able to tour the unit, explore the technology used in modern investigations, and some even had the opportunity to fly drones used by the department.
It was a meaningful meeting that opened our membersโ eyes to the growing role of technology in public safety and the many career paths connected to it.
A big thank you to Sheriff Langlinais and the VPSO team for taking the time to speak with our council and invest in the next generation of leaders.
