Restaurants, retailers, offices, and services along each corridor going North, West, South, and East of the intersection closure remain OPEN and accessible during the 8th Ave NE + Roosevelt intersection project.

Join Us for the South Dakota America 250 Flag Ceremony!
Be part of a historic moment as Aberdeen celebrates America's upcoming 250th birthday with the raising of the South Dakota America 250 Flag at Wylie Park's Circle of Flags.
📅 Friday, June 5th

📍 Wylie Park – Circle of Flags - 2300 24th Ave NW
The ceremony will feature:
-Posting of the Colors
-National Anthem
-Remarks from local and state leaders
-Community recognition
-Historical reflection on The Star-Spangled Banner
-Unfolding and raising of a massive 20' x 30' South Dakota America 250 Flag on the park's 140-foot flagpole
Special participation by local veterans’ groups and local youth organizations including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the CHS Native American Student Association.
This event marks the continuation of our community's celebration of America 250, honoring our nation's history while looking toward the future.
Following the ceremony, everyone is invited to stay and enjoy the kickoff of Family Fun Weekend beginning at 4:00 PM.
Let's come together to celebrate our heritage, our community, and 250 years of the American story.

Beginning at approximately 10:30am Monday, June 1st, 2026, the following intersection will be closed to thru traffic for storm sewer work:
Goodrich Ave. SE & S. Park St.
The intersection is scheduled to be closed until 5pm or until finished. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes until the work is completed.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION NOTICE:
8th Ave NE & N Roosevelt St Beginning 8am Monday June 1st, 2026, the following intersection will be closed for transmission line construction.
Important Information:
• Businesses Are OPEN
• Local Access Maintained
• Follow Posted Detours
Starting June 1st, while the intersection of 8th Ave NE and N Roosevelt St will be under construction the intersection will be closed to through traffic, but businesses, homes, and local destinations throughout the corridor will remain OPEN and accessible during the entire project.
IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW
• Businesses remain OPEN
• Residential access will remain available
• Only the immediate intersection area is closed
• Please follow posted detour signage
• Access routes may change as construction progresses
• Semi/commercial truck traffic should use designated truck detours

URGENT ROAD REPAIR NOTICE – STARTING JUNE 1 AT 9:00 AM
Emergency storm sewer repairs on the 500 block of South Dakota Street near Dakota Street & 6th Ave SE (US Hwy 12), emergency repairs will begin Monday, June 1 at 9:00 AM.
⚠️ Traffic impacts include:
• Road closure near the intersection on the north side
• Westbound traffic reduced to one lane beginning near Jackson Street & 6th Ave SE (near Jimmy John’s)
• Road Closed signage will be in place
Businesses will remain OPEN. Access to businesses will be available from:
• South Dakota Street from the North
• The east-to-west alley between Dakota Street and Jackson Street
Please use alternate routes and allow extra travel time.
Thank you for your patience as we address this urgent safety issue. The roadway will reopen upon completion of the project.

UPDATE: Water will now be off on Goodrich Ave. SE from S. Roosevelt St. to S. Park St. beginning at 7am to approximately 9am Thursday, May 28th, and the intersection of S. Park St. & Goodrich Ave. SE will now be closed thru tonight until approximately 3pm Thursday, May 28th.
WATER OFF & INTERSECTION CLOSED: Beginning at approximately 8am Wednesday, May 27th, 2026, the water will be off and the intersection will be closed in the following area for watermain repair:
Water Off: S. Park St. from 6th Ave. SE to Prospect Ave. SE
Intersection Closed: S. Park St. and Goodrich Ave. SE
The water will be off and the intersection will be closed until approximately 5pm or until finished. The Public Works department suggests that residents in the affected area collect and store water for personal and restroom use. Motorists are advised to take alternate routes until the work is completed.
