ATTENTION ALL BINGHAM COUNTY GROWERS:
Rob Sharpnack from the Idaho Soil and Conservation Commission will be giving a presentation on CREP at the Bingham Groundwater office on Thursday March 4th at 1:30 PM.

Open enrollment for CREP is open now and ends on March 20th. The tentative rate for Bingham County is $291/acre.

The South Bingham Soil Conservation District is accepting bids for hay-on-the-stump on approximately 51 acres of alfalfa for the 2026 and 2027 growing seasons. The successful bidder will accept up to 3 cuttings of hay on the stump for established alfalfa and 2 cuttings for newly established alfalfa each year. There are 46 acres of established alfalfa and 5 acres of new seed that must be harvested after June 15 for first cutting and by September 1 for the final cutting. There may be a variation in acreage from one season to the next. The successful bidder and the District will review the agreement after the 2026 season. The District reserves the right to terminate the agreement prior to the 2026 growing season if market conditions change dramatically. Bid winner must sign contract with the SBSCD prior to the start of the 2026 season.

Bids may be delivered to the District Office until 2pm on February 10, 2026 or mailed to the PO Box listed below. SBSCD office hours are Mon.-Wed. 9am-2pm, and Thursday 9-2pm by phone. The District reserves the right to accept or reject any bid. Please bid in terms of dollars per ton of dry hay and identify your bids with the words “Hay-On-The-Stump Bid, 2026”. Green-chop bids will also be considered.

The South Bingham Soil Conservation District is once again accepting bids on grass and legume straw bales located at the Plant Materials Center in Aberdeen. We would like to send a personal invitation to you to participate as you have done in the past. Bids will close on Sept 30th at 2:00 pm and will be opened on October 1st at our monthly board meeting. Bids may be submitted to the South Bingham Soil Conservation District.

There are 107 small round bales, totaling 35 tons, average weight is 480-500 pounds per bale. The straw may be inspected by calling (208) 397-4501 between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday –Friday to schedule a time. The farm is located at the corner of Vanderford Road and Highway 39. The straw must be paid for upon removal and all straw must be removed by November 30, 2025.
