The Aberdeen Housing Authority Office will be closed on Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of the holiday. We will resume normal business hours on Monday, June 22, 2026.

The Mosquito Control division of the City of Aberdeen will be conducting a city-wide ground spray for mosquitoes on Thursday, June 18th between the hours of 9:00 PM and 1:00 AM.

Mosquito Control surveillance program has identified West Nile Virus in Aberdeen. You can reduce the risk of getting West Nile Virus by eliminating mosquito habitat around your property, applying insect repellents, and wearing proper clothing when outdoors.

The adulticiding equipment is noisy and travels at 10 mph. The mosquito control trucks are identified and travel with a flashing yellow light. To ensure spray effectiveness during the spraying operations, the wind must be 15 mph or less and no inclement weather present. Winds higher than 15 mph or inclement weather will result in the spray being suspended until conditions improve.

Leadership Aberdeen is a program put on by the Aberdeen Area Chamber of Commerce providing opportunities to expand leadership skills, share experiences, getting involved in the community, and building lasting connections. Check out the Leadership Aberdeen project, Heart for the Homeless, a community mural bringing education and awareness to Aberdeen and supporting our local Homeless Coalition of Aberdeen, SD

Class may be over for the Leadership Aberdeen Class of 2026, but their project is on going!

Heart for the Homeless mural pieces are being painted by local organizations and the final mural will be on display for the first time during the Aberdeen Downtown Association Wine Walk on May 21st at the Chamber.
