Thank you to everyone who came out and supported our EMS Stock the Truck Food Drive for the Abilene Food Pantry! The support from our community was incredible, and we are grateful for everyone who donated and helped make this event a success.

Together, we were able to collect just over 1,100 donated food items along with nearly $300 in monetary donations to help support individuals and families in our community through the Abilene Food Pantry.

Events like this remind us how strong our community truly is and what can be accomplished when people come together for a common cause. Thank you to everyone who donated, shared the event, stopped by to visit, and helped us stock the truck. Your generosity will make a meaningful impact for those in need.

Dickinson County EMS will be hosting our “Stock the Ambulance” Food Drive on Saturday, May 16th from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM at West Country Mart in Abilene.

We are asking community members to help us fill an ambulance with non-perishable food items and household essentials to support the Abilene Food Pantry. Donations such as canned goods, soups, peanut butter, pasta, cereal, toiletries, diapers, and paper products are greatly appreciated.

Every donation will go directly back into our community to help local families in need. We appreciate the continued support from our community and look forward to seeing everyone there!

On Saturday, EMS personnel spent part of the day at the Chapman Irish Fest, distributing Letters of Life, providing safety information, and educating attendees about our Mobile Integrated Healthcare Program.

This month’s EMS training focused on the safe transport of pediatric patients during medical responses. Providers received hands-on instruction and practice in properly securing pediatric mannequins using approved car seats, the integrated ambulance child safety seat, a spine board, and the Pedi-Mate Transport Device. The training was led by Captain Paramedics Landon Reed and Jeanne’ Schantz.

On Sunday, EMS hosted a “Stock the Ambulance” food drive at West’s Country Mart in Abilene. Through the generosity of our community, we collected approximately 1,300 non-perishable items and nearly $200 in monetary donations, all of which were donated to the Abilene Food Pantry. We extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who participated and supported this effort.

Yesterday, Paramedics Troy Halfhill and Alex Leff conducted an airway and ventilation training session for EMS personnel, focusing on proper bag-valve-mask (BVM) ventilation techniques, needle decompression, cricothyrotomy procedures, and an overview of ventilator modes, settings, and operational adjustments.
